03. Ruby

So, this is a day late....

I feel a sharp pain on my side which causes me to wake up.

"Ouch, what the fuck" I say louder than intended

Ruby rolls her eyes at me.

"Wake up, class is over" she informs me

I look around the now empty classroom with a confused facial expression.

What?

I usually don't fall asleep until after lunch.

"Come on, Alisha ordered pizza and I'd like to get some before fatass Erin eats all of it" Ruby rolls her eyes

I stretch in my seat before standing up and grabbing my backpack.

"Wait, I though Erin was a vegetarian?" I question

Ruby raises an eyebrow at me, not understanding what I'm talking about.

"Alisha only likes pepperoni pizza, pepperoni is pork, pork is meat, vegetarians don't eat meat" I state

Ruby stops in the middle of the hallway with an elated facial expression.

"Oh my god, Haley you're totally right!" She exclaims

"Oh, we're totally busting that lying bitch" Ruby links her arm with mine and practically drags me down the hallway towards the auditorium

We sneak into the auditorium during lunch because it's quieter and smells better than the cafeteria.

The last time we ate in the cafeteria was our freshman year and someone threw up across from us.

I think it is safe to say that was a dealbreaker.

It takes no time at all for Ruby and I to reach the auditorium.

"Don't say anything, I want to be the one to break the news" Ruby demands

I roll my eyes at her and choose to open the door before we get caught.

Ruby releases her hold on my arm as we enter the dimly lit room.

I glance in front of me and smile when I notice Erin and Alisha in fact eating pepperoni pizza in the middle of the stage.

"How was you nap, Drooley?" Erin teases me

I roll my eyes at the girl.

"That's funny coming from you" I reply

I push my sunglasses up so that they keep my hair out of my face.

Erin gives me a confused facial expression as Ruby and I approach her.

"Yeah," Ruby butts in

"It's almost as funny as you being a vegetarian" she smirks

Erin raises an eyebrow at Ruby just as Ruby and I walk up onto the stage.

"What?" Erin questions

I take a seat on the wooden stage, crisscrossing my legs under me.

As soon as I'm comfortable I immediately grab a slice of pizza.

Fuck.

I'm starving.

"Pepperoni is meat" Ruby states as she takes a seat beside me

Erin's face goes from confused to terrified.
