Ignore the fact that this chapter is hours late.
This takes place after Haley took a shower and got redressed in her school clothes that she was wearing earlier.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Thanks, Ruby," I thank my best friend as I shove my dress into my backpack
"I owe you one" I promise her
My red haired best friend chuckles at this.
"It's fine, Hails," she promises me
"What time should I pick you up tomorrow?" She asks
I take a moment to think over this question.
Hmm.
"Seven thirty?" I say with an unsure tone
"I want to get some breakfast before school" I tell her
She nods her head in agreement.
I smile before hopping out of her truck and shutting the car door behind me.
I wait for her to pull away before walking next door to my house.
I asked Ruby to park in front of my neighbor's house so that my parents wouldn't be suspicious if they are still awake.
It takes me no time at all to reach my house.
When I do I carefully sneak beside the house, into the back yard since the den is in the back of the house.
I stay low as I pass a bunch of window, only standing back up when I reach the last window.
I slyly peek inside of the window only to notice that the den is still in the condition that it was when I first left.
I kneel down and pick up a metal fork that I buried in the grass.
I usually sneak in this window when I lose my house key and nobody is home to let me in.
I use said fork to pry the bottom of the window up.
I smirk when I get the window cracked.
I kneel back down to bury the fork until the next time I need it and push the window up, only enough so that I can climb through it.
My backpack is the first thing that I remove, swinging it through the window so that it lands on the couch.
I practically hold my breath as I use all of my upper arm strength to hoist my body up off the ground, swinging one of my legs through the window.
Once I am practically straddling the windowsill I carefully slide my upper body through the window until I am mostly inside of the house.
Lastly I bring my leg into the house after me so that I am standing on the wooden flooring.
I release a sigh of relief as I slowly close the window, making sure it doesn't squeak.
As I turn around I release another sigh of relief to not see my parents standing right there.
I slowly and carefully tiptoe over towards the large couch, laying on it once I reach it.
I lay my head on one of the pillows and grab the remote so that it looks like I stayed in here all night watching television.
Time to say goodnight to one eventful night.
-
I groan when I hear an excessive ringing in my ears.
