Chapters 12 - You Can't Make Me

NOBODY'S POV:

It's Friday now. Camila and lauren haven't seen each other. Lauren was busy making up meetings that she had missed the past couple of days and camila was busy baking. Turns out the colder the season gets the people want more cookies, muffins, bagels, brownies and coffee. They spoke to each other, either through text or phone calls.

Shawn had gone back to his apartment down in LA Wednesday afternoon. Dinah was busy with work, like always. And maddie was home, at school or at kyle's house. Not much.

Tonight lauren and camila have a date. They have been planning this for a day now and both of them couldn't wait. Lauren asked this time so she would be taking them out this time.

Camila walked downstairs from her room. dinah and maddie all dressed up for the day and eating breakfast. When I mean breakfast I mean cereal and a banana. "Hey! Y'all ready?" Camila called putting her shoes that sat by the door.

"Yes!" Dinah called walking towards her.

"Yeah sure" maddie grumpily said slouching as she walked. She opened the door and walked out the apartment, two pair of brown eyes watching her from behind.

"Hey, hey, hey. Hold up, baby. What's wrong?" Camila rushed over towards her daughter and pulling her back by her arm, gently.

"Nothing, it's just some stupid test at school" maddie huffed throwing her head back but walked forwards when the elevator opened.

"What test? You never told us you had one?" Dinah frowned joining them a second later.

"Why do you wanna know? You never ask me about school work and shit"

"Maddison cabello!" Camila scolded.

Maddie rolled her eyes at her mother "it's a couple tests". The two older woman raised there eyebrow wanting her to say it. So the girl rolled her eyes "science, math, english and history"

Dinah chocked on thin air and coughed, camila patted her back with wide eyes "jesus christ that's like the whole entire fucking day!" Dinah said after her coughing fit stopped. The doors opened to the elevator and they made there way out the building

"Okay she can curse and I can't- nevermind" the girl rolled her eyes and huffed "yep. Some of them where suprise test and told us about it yesterday and some of them we knew for a week"

"Did you study? Science and history can be a hard topic, maddie" camila asked.

Maddie pressured her lips together and avoided eye contact as she looked at the nearest store "hey look they sell drugs!" Maddie causally pointed to a convenient store right up a head.

"Little cabello you better answer your mother..." dinah warned giving her stern eyes.

"...ehh I'll wing it" maddie shrugged still not making eye contact.

"Maddie! High school is important, colleges look at your grades before they pick you-"

"Who said I was going to college" the younger girl cut of her own mother.

"Your going"

"Who said?"

"Me"

"You can't make me, i have rights you know"

"I'm cuban do you really want to test me?" Camila narrowed her eyes at her won daughter. Maddie glanced at dinah and the older woman was viciously shaking her head 'no'.

"Still not going" maddie shrugged. "Plus it's not like in already failing all of my classes. Why even bother on the test? It wont raise it" maddie shrugged again walking ahead.
