"Before I met you, I never
knew that it was possible
to miss someone this badly."

"I just don't see why we have to move for your job anyways. Couldn't you have just managed the company from our home?" I asked my mum as we pulled up to the house. Looking out of the car window, I saw a nice little 4 bedroom house staring back at me.

"Millie, as the leading director of the new fashion company, I can't work in it in the UK. That would literally be impossible," my mum replied and she turned to face me in the car. "Look, I know you're upset, I would be too if I was moving away from all my friends but look at the bright side, you're living in America!" She added on with a fake cheer causing my little brother, Dylan to giggle. Dylan was 4 and annoying as ever. Everything had to be about him and if it wasn't, he'd throw a fit.

Hearing the car door open, I looked to my left to see my older brother, Josh, get out. Sighing, I heard my mums door open too and close making me get out. Closing the car door behind me, I moved to the boot to collect my suitcases. The movers came over last night to put all of our stuff inside, all we had to do was sort it out and decorate.

Taking my suitcases, I watched as my mum opened the door letting my brothers and I walk in.

"I take dibs on the second biggest room!" I yelled as I ran up the stairs to find it while Josh chased me. Opening the second door on the left down the hall, I easily found the second biggest room. The room had it's own bathroom, a walk in closet and even a balcony. It had already been slightly decorated with chest of draws and stuff nicely put around it. Feeling satisfied, I dumped my suitcases on the bed with the smile.

"Get out, this my room," Josh said as he entered.

"Umm, no," I simply said with a smile making him huff.

"Mum!" He yelled making me laugh.

"You're sixteen and you're still calling for mum, wow," I joked as I opened my suitcase.

"What's happened now?" My mum asked as she appeared at the door way.

"Millie's in my room," Josh simply said making me glare at him.

"No, I'm in my room," I replied back making him roll his eyes.

"Josh, what are you going to need a walk-in closet for? You're a boy and I'm your mum. When you have clothes whether they're clean or dirty, they're dumped on the floor," mum said making me chuckle.

"Fine. Have fun in you bathroom, balcony room," he said while walking out.

"I will!" I yelled back making him put the middle finger up without looking back.

"Unpack and then help with the boxes please. Yours have your name on them so just sort them out once you're ready," my mum who went by the name of Jane said with a smile.

Nodding, I watched as she walked away leaving me alone. Taking out my clothes, I sorted them in my closet. Once doing that, I put my toiletries in my bathroom. Heading down stairs, I grabbed two of my four boxes. Sorting through them, the first one held my other clothes and the second one held my pictures and lamps etc. Once nicely placing them around I went to get my other two. The third one contained shoes and coats etc which I put in my closet and the fourth one contained my make up and lights that would go around my room. Setting all of them out and sorting out my stuff, I was finally finished.

Laying down on my bed with a relieved sigh, I felt happy and content, that was until Dylan ran into my room and jumped on my bed.

"Mum told me to come get you. There's people at the door," he said before jumping off me and running off. Sighing, I looked to the clock to see it was 18:34.

"4 hours have already passed? Wow, time files when you're not paying attention to it," I mentally said as I got up and made my way down. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, I followed the sound of voices into the kitchen to see a family talking to my own.

Josh was talking to a boy who seemed to by his age while Dylan was talking to a little girl who seemed to be his age too.

"And this is my daughter Millie," my mum said as she noticed me. Turning around to see me, I gave a nice smile as I walked further into the room. Upon doing so, I noticed two other boys standing by the kitchen counter casually talking to each other. Connecting eyes with one, I felt as thought as the air around me had been sucked away. His ocean blue eyes drew me in, practically drowning me. I noticed as he ran his fingers through his hair making my heart slip a beat. His hands were big and seemed strong making his attractiveness increase. A smirk lightly played on his lips as he noticed I'd been starting for longer than the normal time. Quickly looking away, I looked to the two other adults in the room that I didn't know.

"Hi Millie, I'm Amy Matthews. This is my husband Alan, my eldest son Eric, our middle child Cory and our youngest daughter, Morgan," the nice lady said as she pointed to each of her children. "This is Shawn. He's a friend of Cory's," she added on making my nod.

"It's nice to meet you all," I said nicely as Dylan appeared by my side.

"Do you have 10p on you? I wanna show my new friend Morgan my magic trick," he asked making me check my pockets. Feeling one, I took it out and gave it to him.

"Don't swallow it this time though! Health care isn't free here!" I called as he ran off giggling with Morgan. "Jesus, Mary and Joseph," I muttered making the Shawn boy who I found very attractive chuckle.

"So, Millie, you're mom said you were starting 7th grade this year," Alan Matthews said in his American accent making me nod. "Both Cory and Shawn are starting their 7th grade too when school goes back after the holidays maybe you guys will have classes."

"Maybe," I said making my mum smile. "Fingers crossed I won't be alone."

"Well, you have the summer to make friends. You can hang out with Cory and Shawn for the first part but they go away during the second half I'm afraid," Amy said making me smile.

"I'm sure Millie would love that," my mum replied for me. Soon after, the Matthew's and Shawn left leaving my family to sort through the other boxes. Before I knew it, it was 23:17 and I was shattered.

"I hate jet lag."

Getting into bed, I got comfortable as my eyes closed leaving me sleep for what felt like eternity.
