"We looked at each other
a little too long to
be just friends."

Opening the Matthews Household door, I made my way to the kitchen to find Shawn and Cory standing by the kitchen door that lead into the front room. Of course it was the other kitchen door and not the one I originally walked through.

I knew my eyes were red from crying from both boys faces as they looked to me. Looking to Shawn, my face held guilt as his held regret. Smiling sadly, he walked over to me without saying anything and wrapped his arms around me. Putting my head under his chin, I wrapped my arms around him.

"I'm sorry for not listening to you," I said making him chuckle.

"Don't be sorry," he replied while pulling away and wiping a tear off my cheek.

"Yeah, Jason's an idiot anyways," Cory said as Shawn and I made our way over to the door. They knew about my date with him and now obviously knew it didn't go to plan.

"I can't believe it only took 5 hours," I said with a sad chuckle. "I didn't like him or anything but, I just want one boy to look at me like I'm his world," I said, not seeing Shawn's dying gaze on me.

"You'll find that boy soon, Millie. He might be closer than you think," Cory said making me chuckle.

"I sure hope so. Anyways...enough of me. What's going on with you two losers?" I questioned, wanting to stop talking it about and having the attention on me. Walking into the front room, we sat on the couch as they continued their conversation.

"We're trying to see what's Cory's technique for getting girls is," Shawn said as I sat down in the middle of them on the couch.

"Ahh, I see," I answered making Cory nod. "You should ask your brother. He's got the boom."

"You know what, let's just forget this whole subject. There are a million other things to do in the world. I mean, we're too young to worry about finding mates," Cory said making me sigh.

"You're right. See ya," Shawn said, grabbing his bag and getting up.

"Where you going?" I questioned as Shawn handed me his half drank coke can before walking to the front door.

"I'm off to meet girls. I got a 30-foot range," he said while opening the door and Cory and I walked up behind him. Tilting his head back and running a hand through it, a random girl suddenly shouted,

"Is that you Shawn?" Making him turn to look at us with a smirk.

"Get out," Cory said making me chuckle before shutting the door on Shawn's face. "Fine. No girls for me," Cory said as he sat back down on his couch.

"You got this girl," I said with a smile making him smile back.

"Yeah, but not the way I want a girl," Cory said making me nod.

"Yeah, I get you. Don't worry, you'll find a girl Cor," I said making him nod.

"I'll just study, get good grades, get smart and become a famous scientist, and then...I'll build a wife," he said as he opened a text book making me shocked. Looking in surprise, two seconds had past before Cory shut the book and got up. "I'm bored."

Laughing, it soon died down when Cory and I heard music coming from upstairs.

"What's that?" I questioned making him shrug.

"Let's go find out," he said as he made his way up while I followed. "Mom?" Cory yelled as he recognised it was coming from his parents room. "Dad? Are you home?" Going to the room and opening the doors, both our eyes widened in surprised as we saw Eric and his girlfriend, Rebecca, making out on his parents bed. Pulling away, Rebecca stopped once seeing Cory and I.

"Guys, we're studying," Eric said wanting us to go.

"So am I," Cory said making me chuckle lightly before grabbing the boys hand and leaving.

Cory and I made our way downstairs after seeing Eric and Rebecca and sat at the kitchen table having a drink. That was about 10 minutes ago.

"Don't go, Rebecca," Eric said as they both walked into the kitchen.

"Sorry, I don't really feel like being here anymore," she said as she picked up her books.

"You haven't seen the whole house. There's a roof," Eric said making me confused.

"Every house has a roof. What's so special about yours?" I whispered to Cory making him shrug.

"Beats me," he whispered back.

"Actually Eric, it's nice we didn't go any further then we did," Rebecca said before turning around to Cory and I. "Thank you."

"No prob," Cory and I replied in unison.

"Why don't we just study together like we planned," Eric said, really not wanting this girl to leave.

"I need to study alone," she said as she walked past him and over to the door.

"So I'll see you Friday?" Eric asked a she put her hand on the door knob.

"No," she said softly before opening the door and leaving.

"Okay then," Eric called but the she didn't hear.

"So, what's new?" Cory asked making me chuckle nervously.

"I think I best be going," I said with an awkward laugh before grabbing my stuff and running for the door.

Heading home, I noticed no one was there. Going into the kitchen, I saw another note on the island.

"Working late again, Millie. Fix yourself something to eat. I stopping here during my lunch to see if you have food and you do. See you later. Love you

- Mum."

Sighing, I went to the fridge and took out a can of Coke before heading upstairs.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" I checked but no one answered. "Lovely," I muttered sadly as I went to my room alone.
