Warning: yelling, mild violence, mild cursing

punch in the face wasn't exactly what he wanted when he landed but he can't say he didn't expect it after the little stunt he almost pulled.

"What the hell Keith?!" Lance screamed, being held back by Hunk who anticipated another punch in the face if he didn't. "What were you thinking?! You weren't thinking at all were you?! You just had to almost crash your ship into the shield didn't you!? You're lucky Lotor was there to save your ass or WE'D HAVE HAVE TO RETRIEVE YOUR CORPSE!!!" Lance screeched. Keith didn't say anything, just stared at the ground bangs covering his eyes. "Look at me when I'm talking to you Keith!" Lance cried, calming down slightly after his rant and enough for Hunk to let go of him.

"Lance I think that's enough," Matt said, looking at Keith from the corner of his eye, looking concerned. "No! Este idiota tiene que saber lo que ha hecho!" Lance said, still fuming over his actions. "Lance-" "he almost died Matt!" Lance said, Matt didn't realize the unshed tears in his eyes until he saw them. "He almost died and we didn't realize until you had to tell us!" Lance said, turning his attention back to Keith who still refused to make eye contact which pissed Lance off.

"KEITH!" He flinched, slowly wrapping his arms around himself and kept looking down, a frown showing on his mouth. Lance was slightly stunned by Keith's actions, he'd never seen him look so helpless yet still defensive. "Keith, why didn't you tell us?" Shiro interjected, looking at him with a combination of both a soft and stern look.

"Didn't think it was a big deal." He mumbled after a few silent seconds. This really pressed Lance's buttons. Hunk didn't have enough time to hold him back as Lance immediately grabbed Keith by the collar of his suit. "TELL ME HOW THE HELL THAT WASN'T A BIG DEAL?!?!" "BECAUSE I DIDN'T MATTER!!!!" Keith finally answered, pushing Lance away like he burned him and hugged himself. "I didn't matter." He repeated. "Not in that moment."

Everyone looked at him in disbelief and in slight horror. "Keith..." Allura said, not being able to continue, "of course you matter." Pidge said, taking a small step towards Keith who took a step back, hugging himself tighter as if she was going to hurt him. He shook his head, "You guys are part of Voltron, remember? The universe needs you, they need Voltron, they need you. Not me." He softly replied. "And we need you Keith." Shiro said, Keith shook his head harder, "no you don't, Voltron doesn't need me anymore and neither do you guys. Besides I was always the lone wolf anyways right? I barely contributed and I wasn't a good leader when I needed to be, this was for the best." He said, Lance clenched his fist, "that's not true." He replied, Keith looked at him and scoffed. "You know I'm right, you all had the same expression when I left for the blades don't deny it." "That's not-" Lance stopped himself because. . . because he wasn't wrong.

They we all disappointed in him that day, disappointed that he wasn't the leader he was supposed to be, that he couldn't even lead the team properly and decided to join the blades while he was at it. When he told them he was join the blades and leaving Voltron. He didn't want to admit it but a small part of him was happy. Happy that they wouldn't have to deal with him as leader, happy that he got to keep red and stay in Voltron.

It was ugly having to accept that now of all times but he knew what Keith was talking about. They were disappointed he was leaving so often but deep down they felt relieved he left in the end.

Keith shook his head and walked back to his ship, the others snapped out of their shamed state and watched him. "Where are you going?" Hunk asked, Keith glanced back at them before looking forward. "Back." Lance looked at him in bewilderment, "to the blades? Keith they don't care about you. The moment something goes wrong they'll leave you behind!" Keith sighed and looked behind him, " They still have unfinished business to attend too. As long as I'm useful to them there's no reason for me to stay here." He said, beginning to climb back aboard his ship before a weight on his back pulled him away from his ship, he looked behind to see Pidge holding him back. "Pidge let go." Pidge shook her head, tightening their grip on him, Keith looked at them pained, conflicted.

"Why? Why are you guys so upset about this? This is war, why are you such a big deal about one life over the lives of millions in the galaxy? I signed up for this so why? Why do you care so much?" Keith asked, " because we care Keith, you're still part of our family in and out of Voltron, is that not a good enough reason?" Shiro said before raising a brow with a small smirk, "besides, you're my little brother, can't have you dying on me just yet." Keith rolled their eyes at him, "exactly how many times have I saved your ass from dying?" He asked, Shiro shrugged. "Enough times for me to repay that debt." Keith shook his head with a small smile and sighed.

"Are you still going?" Allura asked once Pidge let him go. Keith looked at her then at the rest of the team. "Yeah, there's nothing for me to do if I stay here, I'm sorry." He said, looking down. Lance let out a loud sigh. "Well at least call every week or so, gotta make sure you're still alive to kick ass when we need to." "He just wants to make sure you're safe and alive." Hunk piped, lance squeaked "Hunk!" "What? It's true! I'm just translating the Lance language." Hank said, raising his hands in defense. Keith lightly snorted at that with a small laugh. "Well thank you for the translation Hunk, I'll try to call when I can." Keith said, "wait!" Keith paused and turned around to feel the impact of lance colliding into him. "Stay safe out there mullet. Don't get yourself killed." Lance whispered, Keith let out a huff. "Yeah yeah ok." Lance pulled back quickly and pointed a finger at Keith's chest. "I'm serious mullet, no dying while I'm still alive, promise?" He asked, sticking out his pinky. Keith let out a small groan covered by his hands before looking at lance and hooking his pinky with Lance's. "Promise." He said with a smile. Lance smiled back and pulled back in for another hug. Hunk quietly sniffed in the background, "don't leave me out of this guys!" He whined before throwing himself in the hug the others following close behind.

"Stay safe and don't die on us Keith, you understand?" Shiro said, Keith rolled his eyes but nodded, "I want a yes sir." He teased, Keith groaned again, "yes sir, now can I leave?" He asked, a little more serious. Everyone disconnected from the hug and let Keith get on his ship. "Remember Keith, you will always, have a place in Voltron." Allura said, Keith softly smiled and nodded. "I know."

The others watched Keith ship fly back to the marmora base, sad to watch their friend leave once again but they knew he would be safe, he could always count on them if anything went south.

*cough* umm hi! Long time no see! (please don't kill me) I want to apologize for not updating in a long time, school ended a while ago and I wanted to enjoy my break for a bit. This one-shot and the next have been finished for a while and I wanted to another two but those two will probably take longer to do so this is to make up for my long hiatus.

After I publish the other two I will most likely put this story on hiatus again to focus on my main projects. (Also because I don't have any one-shot ideas.) I am so sorry to have to drop the hiatus boom on you guys again but I'll do my best to make up for it.
