Warning: mention of a dead person, a little depressing.

Lance was thoroughly surprised when he woke up and checked the time seeing as it was around 6 in the morning. No one else would be awake around this time besides probably Shiro or Keith.

He layed in bed, questioning why his body would betray him like this before begrudgingly getting out of bed and taking off his face mask and doing his morning routine. Once he finished he went out to get food, the silence of the halls and the darkness made it feel eerie which sent goosebumps through his body, he shivered before speed walking quicker to the kitchen.

Stepping foot in the kitchen and turning on the lights made him relax as he got a plate and went to get food goo. Settling himself in the table he ate in peace, looking through his phone at the many photos he's taken throughout their time as space rangers. He must have scrolled a lot before landing on a photo of him and his siblings around a campfire in the backyard of their house smiling at the camera, he winced at the sight, the thought of his family made him emotional so scrolled back to the most recent before turning it off, not feeling hungry anymore.

Lance walked to the lounge to get some good TV time and put on a movie Pidge totally didn't download illegally. The door opened up to someone already there, TV turned on but with its volume very low. Lance stared at Keith humming, occasionally singing to music with his headphones connected to his phone while watching the TV, unaware of Lance's presence within the room.

Lance just looked and listened to him, the faint sound of country music that slipped out of the earbuds and Keith singing along. Lance silently approached behind him before swooping down and snatched Keith's phone along with the headphones and putting them on. Keith jumped at the sudden movement and looked behind him surprised to see Lance, he instantly threw himself over the couch and tried to get his phone back from lance in vain as lance gracefully dodged him and continued listening.

"Lance, give me back my phone!" Keith yelled, trying to grab his device before Lance moved to the side, "nope! Not after this great discovery!" He cheered, avoiding Keith before facing him with the biggest shit eating grin on his face, Keith immediately growing red before with one swift movement snatching his phone and headphones back from Lance and shoving it in his back pocket, blushing in embarrassment.

"Aww is mullet embarrassed because someone heard him listen to country music?" Lance teased, Keith sneered at him before looking away from him, face still red. "It's ok keithy boy, we all like different types of music." Lance cooed, Keith saying something back but barely audible, "what was that?" Lance asked, inching closer. "I said I don't like country music." He said, look at lance from the cover of his bangs, Lance giving him a 'you're in denial' face, "right that's totally why I didn't just hear you listen to country music." He sarcastically replied, Keith now looking at him completely, giving him a stern look, " I don't like country music." He said as if it was a statement.

Lance gave him a skeptical look before looking away from him, "riiight, whatever lets you sleep at night pretty boy." He said about to walk away before Keith grabbed him by his arm. "I don't like country music, if anything I hate it." Lance looked back at him, giving him a confused look now, "if that's the case then why were you listening to it?" He asked, raising an eyebrow, Keith flinched a bit before looking away, "because my dad listened to it and he liked it." He silently replied, Lance slumped a little, he didn't know much about the man, Keith didn't talk about him a lot but all he knew is that he wasn't here anymore.

"Oh..."

Keith let go of Lance's arm, "I don't like country music, the only reason I listen to it is because my dad liked it and listening to it makes me feel closer to him." He said, looking away and crossing his arms, holding a defensive stance, not in a way as if someone was going to hurt him but in a protective way.
