Warning: glimpses of violence, physical and verbal abuse, fire, minor character death, bullying, signs of neglect
The intercoms went off with Allura's voice making itself present, "Paladins! Please come to the training deck! Further instructions will be given there!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and walked to the training deck where Allura and Coran held devices in their hands.
"What is it princess?" Shiro asked, noticing the device and looking pointedly at it. Allura smiled, "I'm glad you asked, today we'll be doing bond training!" She gleefully exclaimed, "we'll be showing each other our most special," everyone seemed amused by that, "and worst memories of our lives!" She explained cheerfully, everyone's faces dropped drastically.
"Princess I can understand sharing our most special happy memories but are the worst really necessary?" Lance asked, being the voice of reasoning for the rest of the team. Allura nodded seriously, "our most special memories are so we can understand each other more, and worst so we can learn to confine each other when we need reassurance." She explained, everyone didn't seem to like the thought of sharing their worst memories.
Shiro snapped out of his dazed shock and slight terror when he noticed Keith, he didn't move but the horrified look on his face said it all. "Are you sure we can't just skip the worst memories?" Hunk tried. Allura huffed, annoyed. "No you can not! But if it makes you guys feel better I can go first as an example." She said, the paladins seemed to lighten up a bit at that and collectively nodded. "Good," she said, moving further away from the group, "each one of you will be sedated for a few minutes and will be seated here," she pointed to a chair, "while wearing this." Looking at the device in her hands. "This will be placed on your head and when sedated your memories will be shown on the screen, the memories can be what you want to show but because this is showing the best and worst, so it will also show other bad and good memories." She explained.
everyone shuffled uncomfortably and sat on the floor while Allura placed the device on her head and sat on the chair, blue straps flickered alive around her wrist and ankles and kept her bound. "Is that supposed to happen?" Lance asked, looking more afraid of this bonding exercise and inching closer to the exit. "Yes, it's so you don't harm yourself if anything goes wrong or removes the device, it could cause harm." She says, lance gulps and everyone shivers.
Coran sedated Allura and soon a scene was projected out of the device and Altean flowers can be seen in full blossom surrounding the area, a young voice called out to their father and a younger version of king Alford appeared and swung the young child around. A burst of happy giggles erupted from the little girl in Alford's arms and the team noticed that the voice of the little girl and the perspective of the child was Allura. Altea before it was destroyed.
The scenes changed from different places of the palace and outside with her family, some good some bad until it was all up in flames, Keith slightly recoiled back from his spot as the sight of the fire.
Screaming can be heard from all sides of the palace, Allura looked around, lost. "Allura!" Allura turned around to see her mother, she ran to her mother and hugged her, her mom hugging her back. Her mom looked around and grabbed Allura's hand and pulled her to a different hallway. The walls all seemed to blend themselves with the fire as pearly white walls were covered in smoke and flames. As Allura and her mom ran through mazes of flames and walls a shot can be heard and her mother collapsed to the ground, blood slowly painted the floor. A scream erupted from Allura's mouth as she kneeled down and saw her mother's empty and blank stare. White noise filled her ears as she watched the puddle of blood underneath her mom grow with every second.
"-Ura! -llura! Allura!" Her vision snapped back up to the sight of Coran, holding her shoulders with a gun sheathed to his belt, a fallen galra soldier behind him. "M-mother, Coran mother, s-she's, coran she's dead!" She cried, coran gave her a sorrowful look and hugged her tightly before pulling her up and dragged her down a different hall, a doorway opened up to show her father staring out the window as altea was lit up in flames, galra cruises firing at the ground causing explosions and making the floor shake.
