CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
CUT!" THE direction shouted as we had finished the scene.
Roi Vazquez smiled devilishly at me and winked. I rolled my eyes at him and moved away. It was a wrap-up. The crew went to the buffet and some called me to go with them but I'd built the wall around me that no one can havoc. I just smiled at them and nodded for acknowledgment. Hindi naman talaga pupunta. I had my own dinner and my PA, Karen, was here with me.
I was about to make a beeline to my tent when a baritone voice resonated behind me.
"Hindi ka sasamang kumain?" It was Roi.
The pig that I saw getting a head in a public comfort room. Yes, the one that had the audacity to ask me to join them. Just thinking about it made my stomach churn. I winced when I felt my throat gagging.
"Hindi,"
He rolled his eyes, "Ang snob mo naman."
"So?"
In months of working with these people, they had already established their impression of me. I was the snob daughter of Marshall Angeles who didn't heed attention to anyone other than to her phone. I didn't want to build a relationship with anyone— even with my PA, who I assumed, was kind and friendly that can put up with my attitude. I'd received plenty of sermons from my Father regarding the way I interact with my co-workers. Working with them was hella excruciating. Let alone interacting with them.
I received a collective groan from Roi as he stomped his feet. Such a childish little prick.
"Come on, Aisha. You can't just stay in your tent and do your dirty little secrets there." He mumbled, "Unless, you want me there to accompany you?" He winked suggestively.
Goosebumps pebbled throughout my forearms. I winced at him. Siguro kung may hawak lang akong kahit anong bagay ay naibato ko na sa kaniya. Inirapan ko nalang siya at tinalikuran siya. I was about to walk out when a strobe blinked in front of me, making me grimace. Fuck. Fans and their skills.
I heard the deep chuckle of Roi. I just shook my head and went straight to my tent. Hindi na rin ako nag-abalang tumingin sa kung saan nagkukumpulang mga fans na pumunta kanina para sa set visit nila. I'd received quite a number of gifts. There was also a green teddy bear that was wearing a shirt printed with ROISHA FOREVER— which made me cringe. What was that pet name? I hated being paired up with anyone. I wanted to have a solo career; I didn't want to be stuck to someone I despised most.
When I entered the tent, I slumped on the chair and looked at my reflection in the mirror. The exhausting day had come to an end. The constant sound of the singing crickets consumed the vicinity and the clamor outside the tent rippled throughout. I slouched in my seat and waited for my PA to get inside the tent. I needed my phone to check on my social media and also stalk Kei de Chavez— which a hobby rooted in me for the past few months.
When she got inside the tent, I immediately took my phone from her and searched for the person I was so eager to check in with. Kei wasn't a social media guy. The display photo on his account was taken a year ago. He wasn't smiling at the camera; he was just coldly looking away while the wind softly blew his air. He was so handsome and I missed him so much.
Tears burned the rims of my eyes. I blinked several times to fight back the tears to slide down to my cheeks. Nakita ng PA ko ang reaksyon sa aking mukha. She smiled at me before she nodded sympathetically. She trudged out of the tent, letting me do my thing alone. I might not open up with Karen but she knew that I was carrying a weight of lead in my chest. Mabuti nalang at nasa panig ko siya. Papa had been strict with me the moment he knew I was dating Kei. It went tenfold the moment I entered the industry. The first few months, he never let me use my phone or let me go out alone. He checked my whereabouts all the time.
