happy new year everyone! <3

  CHAPTER TEN

THE LAST week of October was a helluva draining. Aside from the school requirements that I needed to finish and an advanced-reading I needed to do every night and time every end of our class every day for our practice, I needed also to propose to the higher department for the upcoming activities that will happen next month on our foundation day.

The smell of newly opened band papers danced through my nostrils as the little sound of the printer ricocheted in my ears. Considering the tons of documents that needed to be submitted by the student council, we are also students that needed to comply with the school requirements. Heaving a sigh, I reclined on my seat and massaged the bridge of my nose. With long intakes of breath, I stared blankly at the ceiling. After this, I needed to go to the gym to see if the game practice was done for Kei and me to practice our piece— which I assume was not yet polished.

Kasi naman. Most of the time, he was playful and didn't want to practice and just wanted to watch Netflix. Gusto niya raw panuorin 'yong series na pinapanuod namin. Ako rin naman ang may kasalanan ba't naaddict na siya roon sa palabas.

"Want some coffee, pres?" Angela asked the concern seeped through her throat. She stopped typing as she glanced my way.

I instantly shook my head as I hovered up my tumbler, "I'm all good, Angela. Thanks for asking."

She nodded, "It's literally a hell week for us, e? Paano nalang kaya 'pag mismong foundation day na at saka need na rin nating magreview for finals."

Sigh rumbled out of my throat as I settled on my seat, "Yeah..."

"Still at it?" She looked at me as the gleam of concern intensified in her eyes.

Kumunot ang noo ko dahil sa tanong niya, "What do you mean?"

She shrugged, "Still in the competition with the de Chavez? I mean... that's not even a secret in Clark, right? You two are rivals since the beginning of the time..."

I just shook my head because I thought that's rhetoric. Sigh flew out of my lips as I stood up and arranged thoroughly the stacked of files on my desk and gathered the pens and highlighters splayed beside it. In the absence of an answer— which at first I thought I did not need to provide— Angela flashed her taunting smile. Hindi ko nalang siya pinansin at inayos muna ang nakapusod kong buhok bago kunin ang bag na nakaupo sa tabi ko.

With a tired smile, I said my goodbye and gave some tasks for some of the members present in the office right now before trotting out. It was 5:30 pm and the sun was bearable in my skin while striding along with the building of senior high. I draw a breath as the Mahogany tree rustled with the tug of gusts. With the amber light bathing the vicinity, I sauntered toward the Gymnasium with the sole purpose to bug Kei to make it fast as if he can do something about it.

I rummaged my eyes inside the Gym and when I saw a perfect spot, I sauntered up the bleacher and the shouts of the players in the court resonated in the whole Gym. While I was walking, my eyes drifted to where Kei was. At the sight of him, my throat instantly ran dry as I saw how the bullets of sweats trickled down to his chin while he was instructing his teammates on the court.

"Kei, 'yong crush mo nanunuod!" Someone shouted on the benches. Someone from his teammates, I guess.

My brow shot up as I unconsciously ticked my jaw. I tried to wander my eyes— trying to spot someone fit to his type. Well, hindi ko naman talaga alam kung ano ang tipo ni Kei. Probably someone who had perfect curves and shape and was a year older than him? Gano'n man usually ang mga kakilala kong mga lalaki on my age. They wanted someone older than them in hopes to have a mature relationship.
