CHAPTER EIGHT
THE SOFT and cold touch of the wind rippled through my exposed skin. The sun was blocked by the thick bank of clouds as the light it casts inched out. That was the scene that welcomed me as I climbed out of their car. The old tree situated at the peak of the hill rumbled as the leaves clapped one another as the series of intense gusts whipped through them. With the green grass slanting; following the wind, I stepped forward. The place was like taking my breath away. It was so beautiful and soothing.
Gathering my hair that exploded once the wind scattered through my face, I glimpsed at Kei who was also looking at the tree meters away from us. Reflexes zip through me as Kei claimed my fingers and shamelessly twined them with his. I immediately pulled my hand but as his fingers wrapped around mine, I failed to do so. Scowl painted over his face when he realized that I didn't want what he did.
"You need to hold my hand. You might get slipped while going up." He said as if I was a total limp for letting that happen, "Come on, let's make this day worth it."
Tama nga naman. I needed to unwind so I immediately let him claim my hand and haul me up to the peak of the hill. I willed away any inhibitions and doubt as I stared at our entwined fingers. A wave of security and comfort washed over me as a smile etched on my face. Palagi nalang ganito. While I always push the crap out of him. I'd always see him as my number one rival and I had always worked my ass off to surpass him but every failure I committed when I was trying to surpass him, the pent-up emotions those failures created summoned a tasteless insecurity and a baseless annoyance.
I shook my head. Of course not! I rolled my eyes as I tried to will away those pathetic thoughts that twirling in my head.
I closed my eyes as I let the air embrace me with its coldness and softness.
When I opened my eyes, I immediately looked at the panorama of the unending roll of the establishments of the city. The soft touch of the sun sent a twinge on my skin but I did not care about it since I was spellbound by the majestic scenery in front of us. Napasulyap ako kay Kei at napangiti. In my shock, he was also looking at me with a genuine smile crept across his face. Umaalon ang kaniyang buhok dahil sa hangin.
Fine. This idiot is handsome. He was ridiculously attractive with that perfectly arched brows beneath them were those expressive deep set of eyes down to his well-carved pointed nose underneath was his naturally pink and thin lips. Beside those perfect features were his impeccably chiseled jaw and high cheekbone. I almost lost my breath when his eyes sparkled with so much adoration while looking at me.
"Someone seems like doesn't want to let go of me," Kei whispered playfully.
I looked at him with wide eyes. Reflexes, I let go of his hand and crossed my arms over my chest, and looked at the scenery in front of us. My heart thumped my chest painfully I had to open my eyes to catch a breath. Damn it, what was that?
