"Brenna I need your help!" Ashton yelled as he bursted through my apartment.

"Ashton we have to go to school. Why didn't you ask me yesterday?" I asked and took the piece of paper that was clearly his homework.

"Because I forgot. Can you help me please?" He begged as I looked at the sheet. This was for our class that we literally had in half an hour.

"Just take my answers and I'll help you figure it out after class." I said and took my paper out of my bag and handed it to him for him to copy.

"Thank you." He said and started scribbling all over his page.

Once he was done the two of us headed out so we could make it to class on time. We ended up going to the coffee shop to do our homework since that's like the only place I can ever focus and do my work. First I helped him understand the sheet we had to do over the weekend, then we both did the new sheet we had to complete by Thursday.

Calum came in a little while later while we were sitting at a table together. I saw him and he saw me, but his face scrunched up in what looked like anger. He sent me a glare and then went up to the counter to order. I don't know what happened. We were completely fine yesterday, so what happened?

"Is that that Calum guy you've been hanging out with?" Ashton asked and pointed over to where I was looking with his pencil. He's never met him yet, just because he was never home when he came over. He didn't come over often, just to drop me off at home or something, but he's met everyone at least once except for him.

"Uh yeah." I said and tore my eyes away from him as he turned to walk straight out the door.

"He seems... friendly." He said sarcastically and looked back at his work.

"He is when you get to know him." I said and went back to my work as well.

"You guys have an interesting relationship from what I've heard." He said and moved his brown curls out of his face.

"We're not really in a relationship, I'm trying to give it some time. I just broke up with Cole, I can't just jump into something new." I said with a sigh.

"You can if it's what you want." He said and shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know, I want it to feel right with him." I said and took my lip between my teeth.

"He doesn't seem like the relationship kind of guy Bren, I don't know if he's right for you." He said with a concerned look.

"I feel safe with him. I know I'm not gonna get hurt as long as I'm with him. He has to be right for me. The feeling I get when I'm with him screams everything but wrong. Maybe he's not a relationship guy but he's right for me in a way that I guess only I can ever understand." I said and stared down at the work on my paper.

"I'm glad that you feel safe with him, but he doesn't seem like a good guy Bren. Something about him just feels off, we all feel it, it's not just me." He said which made me sigh a bit.

On paper he's not a good guy at all, on paper he'd actually be terrible to be around. But in real life he's the complete opposite. He's nice to me and he cares about my well-being. He wants me to be safe when I'm with him and he only wants what's best for me.

We had a conversation in the car on the way back home the other day. He was second guessing me getting to close to him. He was debating on if he should just delete my number and never speak to me again just so I'd be safe.
