I stand by the corner, feeling incredibly suffocated, this house was way too full. A splash outside interrupts my thoughts. I glance out the window expecting to see some couple making out but surprisingly I saw nothing.
I watch out the window waiting for someone to break the surface but they don't. My heart stops when I see a limp body under the surface. I race to the back door, pushing past people as I pick up my speed.
When I get outside I can't see anything, there aren't any lights except the ones illuminating the pool. It was clearer now, a guy was under the surface not trying to swim to the top.
I walked closer as I recognized the guy. Jason. Without thinking I slide out of my shoes, running and diving under the surface. I grabbed his shirt, using the weightless water to help me pull him to the edge. I break the surface, pulling Jason to the stairs at the side of the pool.I pull his body up onto the solid ground. The cold was taking advantage of my wet clothes, using them to freeze me. "Jason." I say, trying to rake my body for any memory of what to do.
When I finally realize what I need to do I kneel beside him, putting my lips over his and breathing into him, pinching his nose with my fingers.
I pull back watching as it does nothing for him. I feel tears sting my eyes as I place my lips over his again, breathing my life into him. I sit back, "Jason please." I mumble as tears roll down my cheeks.
I watch in defeat as I feel helpless, suddenly he starts coughing, I push his head to the side, letting the water in his lungs spill out onto the pavement.
He rolls his head back, fluttering his eyes open to look at me. "Lily?" He questions quietly. I notice a small cut bleeding near his hairline.
"You were drowning." I tell him, staring at him in wonder, "You almost died."
"I'm sorry." He mutters. "I'm so fucking sorry Lily." He says a bit louder as tears fill his eyes.
I bend over, hugging him as he mumbles things into my shoulder. "Jason." I mutter, still not believing what happened.
"I didn't sleep with Emily." He tells me, when I pull back to look at his dark eyes.
"What?" I breathe.
He looks at me, biting his lip as to question whether he should tell me. "I didn't wanna hold you back, you're gonna go to UCLA and become a world famous athlete. I don't wanna drag you down with me." He confesses.
I give him a confused look, "Wha-how did you even find out about that?" I finally ask.
"Miles." He tells me quietly, "You deserve so much better than me Lily."
"You have to stop being so insecure Jace." I say, sternly, watching as a look of shock and confusion comes to his face, "I wanted to be with you." I tell him, correcting myself a second later. "Want."
He looks up at me, his eyes wide as he regusters my words. "You mean..." He trails looking at me hopefully.
I nod, "I still wanna be with you, of course I fucking do." I say.
A small smile ghosts his lips as his hand reaches the back of my neck and he pulls me down, meeting his lips halfway.
The emotion in our kiss makes me never wanna pull away, I lean closer, my hand finding his jaw.
---
We went back to my house. I still couldn't believe what happened. Jason still loves me. He never cheated on me. He still wants me.
He tangles his hand in my hair as my head lays on his chest. I missed him. I missed his humor. I missed his smell. I missed everything about him. "Lily, I need to tell you something." He says.
I shift my head, turning it to look up at him. He sits up, causing me to as well. He pushes himself back a little, leaning against the headboard on my bed. He grabs my legs gently, guiding me to sit on his lap.
I comply, resting my hands on his shoulders as I straddle him. His hands play with the back on my shirt nervously. "I realized something." He tells me, making me intrigued.
"What is it?" I ask, kinda nervous.
We're mere centimeters apart, I make out every speck in his dark eyes, the light from the window from my lamp illuminating them. "I can't see anyone else anymore." He tells me, staring at me deeply.
"What do you mean?" I question, still not getting it.
"I used to be able to tell when girls were attractive but I don't anymore. Girls that used to be pretty to me are just nothing. What I'm trying to say is that I only have eyes for you." He confesses making me blush.
He wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me into a hug. I hold him tightly in my arms for a while until he speaks again, "There's something else." He says. I pull back, looking into his eyes again as I press our foreheads together. "The night I lied and told you I didn't love you I went to Emily's house." He tells me, making my heart speed up a bit, "I slept with her." He tells me, "I was so confused about how I felt about you and I was heartbroken and I couldn't think straight-" I cut off his frantic talking by leaning in and kissing him softly.
I put my hands on the side of his face as his cold hands trail up my back under my shirt. I break away, pressing out foreheads together again, "I don't care what happened before. This is you and me now. We're the future." I tell him, earning a large smile from him.
"By the way I like the hair." he says as one of his hands finds the side of my neck before his lips press against mine.
"I love you." I murmur against his lips earning a low groan from him.
I turn my head, deepening the kiss and kissing him slowly. His hands tug at the bottom of my shirt, I break the kiss, putting my arms up and letting him take my shirt off. I kiss him again as his hands find my hips.
