The door bursts open, "Why are you lying to Lily?" Callie accuses.

I roll my eyes sitting down on the bed, "I'm not lying." I say lowly.

She shakes her head, "Jason I told you I can tell when you're lying. Just like you're doing right now." She tells me, standing in front of me with her hands on her hips.

I breathe in and out, getting prepared to play the role "I fucked Emily." I say convincingly.

"No you didn't." She says, a little less sure as her arms slip off her hips.

I stand up meeting her eyes as I tower over her, "I ran into Emily and fucked her in the back of my car, I couldn't even wait to get back to my house." I lie.

Her gaze changes a bit, "Jace." She half whispers, "Why the fuck did you do that?" She asks a bit louder and for a second I'm relieved she believed me but then she starts yelling, "You were miserable when you dated Emily, she made you miserable! Do you realize Lily is your fucking soul mate? But of course some hot piece of ass walks by you and you drop the only person that has ever made you happy!" She yells as if I cheated on her.

"Oh shut it Callie, this isn't any of your business!" I yell back.

I see a small change in her facial expression that looks a lot like hurt, "Emily made you miserable Jason, and you pushed that on me and on Seth and on my fucking girlfriend." She tells me in a low tone.

"What do you understand?" I ask back.

"I understand plenty. I understand because me, unlike you, would never cheat on the person I love. I'm gonna go drive Lily home, and unless you text me an actual apology, I'm not coming back." She warns, turning on her heel and walking to the door, "Have fun at the cottage." She tells me coldly.

I collapse back on the bed, muffling my cries with my pillow. I'm so fucked up.

---

"I'm gonna drive home." I tell Seth, "If you guys text Callie that I left I'm sure she'll bring your car back." He stops me from turning, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Bro, are you good?" He asks, a hint of worry in his casual words.

I nod slowly, "Yeah man, I just need to blow off some steam." I tell him, grabbing my keys and exiting the car.

I drive the car in complete silence, for five hours. I drive in silence driving fast enough and rolling down the windows to drown out my thoughts.

Instead of driving to my house I drive somewhere else. I send a quick text and in a few minutes Emily Greenburg knocks at my passenger side window.

I roll it down and she leans in, putting her forearms against the door. "What do you want at two-thirty in the fucking morning Jason?" She asks, a flirty tone in her voice.

"I thought it was clear in my text." I say numbly.

She reaches in her pocket finding her phone and turning it on. The brightness from her phone aluminates her green eyes, god how I wished they were blue, like hers.

"'Need to see you, swinging by in twenty.'" she reads out loud, "Yeah very descriptive." She jokes, "Wanna come inside? My parents are home so you'll have to be quiet." Emily tells me.

"Don't you mean you'll have to be quiet." I flirt, exiting the car. She blushes, taking my hand and pulling me to her front door.

She leads me to her room, and I close the door behind us. Suddenly she pushes me against the door, immediately latching her lips to mine.

Her lips don't do it for me so I raveng her body looking for something that'll get Lily out of my mind. She's better off without me.

I kiss down Emily's neck, perfume invading my nose and sticking to my lips. I don't like the smell or taste but before I can dwell on it too much, she pulls me back up to her mouth, deepening our kiss.

She strips her shirt and pulls at the bottom of mine, making me pull it off. She's seen my scars but she doesn't care, just running her hand up my arm, and turning her head. She pulls me to her bed, yanking at my belt.

All that's going through my head, playing over and over again, is: She's better off without me.
