Authors note:
Hey all! Welcome back!
So. It was suggested I include a summary as a little refresher. And I think that may be a good idea since it's been so long. (Feel free to skip ahead to the chapter to avoid my ramblings.)
Here it goes...
Sanem has been forced to flee her home in Istanbul and finds her way to the small town of Fener where she meets Can. The town holds some secrets and a murderer or two. Thanks to Sanem and her heroism, she unmasks both murderers while not getting burned alive in the process. She moves in with her super hot boyfriend, tells him her backstory, they knock down a wall, have lots of sex, and are generally adorable.
Sanem is still in hiding from her evil boss who is currently on trial for his dastardly deeds. Aziz, the crossbow wielding fairy godfather/pretend uncle, is still in Istanbul and is monitoring the trial, keeping Sanem safe, and doing yoga with his wife every morning.
A bromance has begun to blossom between Can and Umut, the "hate-to-love" deputy with his own tale of woe. Umut's also got himself a girl, Güliz, the bubbly secretary at Fikr'i Harika, the company that Can started after his former boss tried to prostitute him out to Ceyda.
LeyEm are doing their lawyer thing in Silveri while raising their son Altan. They are also adorbs.
We left off with Can, Emre, and their father on a public relations tour in America to bring more clients into Fikr'i Harika. Which means Sanem is at home, being her usual kickass self. Working two jobs, tutoring, and being taught to cook by Can's aunt Melihat.
There are lots of villains, snakes, and general angsty-ness throughout. Currently we are dealing with Yiğit. Whom every. single. person reading this story haaaaates. And I'll tell y'all something, the more you grumble, protest, complain... the more I laugh. Don't forget, I'm evil and I love to mix things up. So who the hell knows what I'm gonna do. (Except me. I know... mostly. sort of...)
Whew... okay. Did I get it all? 47 chaps, people. I condensed. Lol.
.
Shout out to the editor for sticking with me and for not only editing this chapter, but the above author's note as well. Did y'all notice that "whom" up there? I am so spoiled. How can I carry you around in my pocket so you can whisper grammatically correct sentences to me?

Chapter 48
"Come on! Please!"
Umut heard the cry for help as he walked out of the City Hall, but didn't rush to assist as he could tell from the tone that the person was annoyed, rather than in danger. He sauntered around the building to the parking lot and saw Sanem sitting on her scooter which, despite her attempts, didn't want to start.
"Engine trouble?"
An angry Sanem looked up and grumbled an affirmative. She twisted the key and let the engine just turn over. Umut winced hearing the sad sound of an engine in distress. "Stop, stop, stop. You'll burn out the starter doing that. Let me take a look."
Sanem sighed in defeat, got off the scooter and sat on the curb with an exasperated grunt. Umut gave a quick look and went back into the building to borrow some of the maintenance man's tools. He came back with a tool bag and got to work.
"You know about scooters?"
"I prefer vehicles with a bit more horsepower: Maseratis, Ferraris, Porsches. But an engine's an engine."
