Author's note:

Bust out the bubbly because we are celebrating! 🍾🥂

Today, April 1st, is this story's one year anniversary. (I'm still trying to wrap my head around that 😯)

Chapter 1 was published 1 year today. A sort of April's Fool's joke to myself because I couldn't believe just how far down the rabbit hole I had fallen (and still falling, honestly. Does this thing have an end? 🤔)

For those of you have been with me from day 1 and for those who found me along the way (I'm so glad you did btw 😁), THANK YOU from the bottom of my champagne bottle for your continued support! 🙏

I sooooo appreciate all your love ❤, votes 🗳, comments 📝!

Let's continue this journey!
❤🧡💛💜💙💚

Can helped Sanem get up and they used his shirt to clean up the best they could. They redressed, Can staring at Sanem the whole time. "There's... uhm, something else I want to ask you."

Sanem thought he would ask more about her list, but she looked at Can's worried expression and it made herself wary of what he would ask, "Uh... okay..."

"How did Aziz react when you told him about marrying me?"

"You worried he said no?"

"A little."

Sanem gave him a look that conveyed she didn't believe him.

"Okay. A lot."

"Well you can relax. Not only is he okay with it, he even offered to officiate. Since it will be fake anyways."

"Not fake." Can said adamantly.

Sanem smiled and kissed his cheek, "Real to us."

---------------------

Can and Sanem sat on the elevator floor. Sanem was leaning on Can, who had his arm around her and was playing with her hair. They spoke about various things to pass the time.

They swapped childhood tales of mischief. One story Can told about how he rode his bike along the garden wall as a bet. He won the bet, but his dad was furious. It was the first time Can could remember his dad taking an interest in something he did. An angry father was still better than a passive father. So that was just the beginning of Can's tendency to push the envelope in an attempt to get his dad to notice him. The memory just fueled Can with more passion, that when it was his time to be a dad, he would do things very differently.

Can steered the conversation to lighter topics; music they both liked or Sanem's work. Her profesional life was going smoothly but Sanem felt bad that Can's was still a work-in-progress. "Are you going to miss it? Your job and the fancy corner office?"

"I'll miss the gym they have on the upper floor."

"I'm serious, Can."

Can let out a heavy sigh, "I won't miss the office. As nice as it is. I didn't earn it. Mr. Miraç gave it to me just to keep me happy. I will miss the people I work with. Well obviously not all of them. I'm not too fond of Mr. Miraç, and he isn't too fond of me right now either. Quitting and thus losing him Compass Sport has put me on his bad side."
