Author's note:
First off, a million and one thank you's to Stor1esQu33n for her knowledge of grammar and her willingness to suffer through my, what can only described as, incompetent, "Are you sure you speak English?", addle brained attempts at writing.
She not only takes the time to edit this story, but my other ones too and ANOTHER story for another author. Thanks, Mrs. Editor, for making the rest of us look like slackers. 🙏
Speaking of slacking, I know updates are few and far between. Believe me guys, I would LOVE to quit my day job, have my house just be clean, food magically appear on the table so I don't wake up to the toddler gnawing on my leg in the middle of the night, and just WRITE.
But... adulting sucks. I'm sure this comes as no surprise to many of you. But I still haven't quite adjusted if I'm honest (I just ate icecream for dinner, so that should tell you how well it's going 😆)
Thank you for your support and patience! 😘🤗❤
And now, on with the show!

Previously:
Emre and Leyla stood in a corner, both on their cellphones, trying to get a search warrant sooner rather than later and cashing in all their "I owe you"s to do so. They both seemed confident that Miraç would try to run, but Can couldn't convince himself of that. Miraç had set out for revenge and he hadn't yet achieved it.
The husband and wife law team eventually left with a few Silveri police officers. Umut was walking out with them when he noticed Can had not moved and wore a perturbed expression.
"How do you not look happy, Can? They'll get the warrant, bring that man in for questioning, and now that I've seen your sister-in-law in action, I have every confidence she'll get a confession out of him."
Can was in a daze as he stared at the ground, "I don't care about a confession."
"What?"
Can ignored his question as he was still lost in his unpleasant thoughts. Miraç had caught Sanem alone in that office and even though she said nothing happened, he clearly rattled her. The next time their paths crossed, he had nearly run her down with his car.
Miraç was a wealthy, powerful man with influence and now he had lost all that. He had lost his company and was soon to lose his wife.
Aziz talked about trusting his gut, and Can's was all but screaming at him.
A desperate, angry man is dangerous.
Umut's usual care free attitude was being replaced with something more serious as he saw Can's brow furrow even more. "Can? What's wrong?"
Can looked to Umut. "We have to get back to the hospital."

..."So, Sanem. Tell me more about that man in uniform."
"Umut?"
"Yeah, he was cute. Do you know if he has a girlfriend?"
Sanem was positively beaming. She thought she had seen a spark between them earlier and was so happy to learn she was right, "No, he doesn't."
"And seeing as how we're such great friends, maybe you could slip him my phone number."
"I'll do you one better. How about a double date?"
