Chapter 4: Soren Happened (Picture of Xander above)

Dominic Deleon's POV:

I shut the front door behind Taylor and I as she speeds upstairs.

"What happened to you?" Brett ask's while observing the truck from the front window.

"Soren happened," I growl in irritation, "We're leaving Virginia."

"Sounds like a good idea. Anything I can do?" Brett ask's.

"No, I'm good," I reply, "You know, if I never took this job Aiden gave us, this wouldn't be happening."

"Yeah, that's true," He say's, "But, you also wouldn't have been in that bank with us. Meaning you would have never met Taylor." He finishes with a satisfied smile and walks off. Why must he think things through?

I head upstairs and see Taylor and Xander packing what little they brought. Lincon is helping Taylor while hopping around like an idiot. He's going to take some getting used to. I grab the suit case we never unpacked and put it downstairs.

I look out the window and at my truck. Growling in irritation, I stomp outside and count three bullet holes in the front and four in the back. I open the door and carefully sweep out the broken glass from the dash board. I go back inside and open the suitcase.

I pull out a license plate and replace the one on my truck. I doubt Soren had time to see the tags so I leave them alone. I had packed this bag just in case. Just in case things like this happened.

"You guys be careful! And keep me up to date, Nick!" Brett yells from the door, Taylor, Xander, and Lincon coming towards me with one suit case a piece. Except for Lincon who just picked up and came here.

I help put the bags in the back and climb into the drivers seat. After a final wave to Brett I drive off and towards the Interstate. I try to wait until Xander puts his headphones in, but he never does. He knows we'll talk as soon as he does so.

"Where are we going?" Taylor ask's.

"Grant's." I reply.

"Are you kidding me? We have Xander!" She growls, "Put your headphones in." She then demands to him from the front. I know that when she tells him that we're going to fight.

"I'm not letting him around my son." She snaps.

"Grant's a good guy!" I argue back. She then turns to me in her seat.

"Yeah, and he's still up to that crap ya'll do! No telling who's after him! If something bad goes down I don't want Xander there! Do you know what cops do to kids in this situation?! They put them in foster homes!" She yells.

"Maybe we should leave Xander somewhere safe! Like with Marcus!" I snap.

"Marcus-" She gets frustrated with her words, "I'm not leaving him with anyone, he's safer with me! I can't believe you even suggested that! I should slap the s*** out of you right now!"

"Uh, yeah let's not!" Lincon say's, leaning forward between the front seats.

Everyone then quiets down and I continue to drive towards Ohio. After a few minutes I say, "It's going to be a seven to eight hour drive."

I grip the wheel harder as my head begins to pound. My Wolf is full on screaming at me and I'm about to lose it. Adriel's temper is awful, and I get the worst of it. Taylor put's her hand on my leg to calm him down, knowing what's wrong with me, and it works. But, she still won't look at me, she just stares out the window.

Apparently something I don't know about happened with Marcus because that seems to be her sore subject. I know she's mad about more than that because she doesn't usually flip unless she's stressed about multiple things.

Lincon then leans forward and turns the radio on. After a bit of channel surfing Lincon laughs and say's, "Hey, Foxy, Nicky," I growl at the name, "Listen to this, this literally defines you two." He finishes by pulling Xanders head phones out and telling him to listen.

Criminal- by Britney Spears comes on. Lincon dies laughing and turns it up at the part where it say's-

He is a hustler, he's no good at all

He is a loser, he's a bum, bum, bum, bum

He lies, he bluffs, he's unreliable

He is a sucker with a gun, gun, gun, gun

I know you told me I should stay away

I know you said he's just a dog astray

He is a bad boy with a tainted heart

And even I know this ain't smart

I then smirk back at him when it say's-

But mama I'm in love with a criminal

And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical

Mama please don't cry, I will be alright

All reason aside I just can't deny, I love the guy

I look at Taylor and see she can't help but smile. I smile showing all teeth and she finally looks at me. I sing along with the rest, pretending to sing it to her. This cheers her up and she lightly slaps my arm.

My heart beats faster when I hear the all to familiar siren. I look behind us and see blue and red. I quickly turn the music off and pull over. Sarah looks panicked but I quickly say, "Don't worry," I pull out my wallet with the fake ID and show it to her, "I have this remember?"

She examines it and her eyes widen, "Your buddy got the shape of the Virginia state wrong, you nimrod!"

With no other option I quickly and carefully slide into the back and Lincon takes my place. Hopefully the Officer didn't see that. When he comes to the window I keep my head faced towards my phone while Taylor just gazes out the window.

The process goes as usual and we go on with no problems. Apparently I was speeding. After the Officer drives off we decide Lincon should drive from now on.

-----Three hours later-----

"Has anyone else noticed the red Jeep fallowing us?" Ask's Lincon.

I turn around and look and notice it's not Soren or his buddy. We turn and he does the same. When he takes his shades off I realize who it is. Dean Aspen. I growl in irritation and say, "Don't worry about it, it's someone I know. Just warn me before you pull over."

Dean helped me pull off a bank in Washington, but I cut the deal with him. It's not tht he's bad at what he does, but it's how he does it. When we held the bank up, he killed three people. I don't kill unless it's self defence.

I don't know why, but he's had it out for me ever since. And with Taylor and Xander here, he'll use that against me.

Here we go again. One problem after the other, a wild goose chase. I just want this to be over. For it to all go away. But until then, I have to fix it.

"I gotta get gas, I'm getting off the Interstate." Lincon say's, referring to the low-fuel symbol.

"Get down and stay down, Xander." I command and feel for my gun on my side for reassurance. No telling what Dean wants.
