Chapter 21: Elixir

Taylor's POV:

"Are you sure about this? Shouldn't we be trying to get away by now?" Seran asks.

"No, and yes we should." I reply while flipping through my journal on my new bed as I listen to Dominic rant on his office phone just across the hallway.

"Then why aren't we?" Seran asks in a 'duh' tone.

I stop flipping pages and look up at him, "Has your father ever laid his hands on you?"

He stiffens and glares at me, "That's not what I'm asking."

"Answer me." I demand.

His hardened expression that he gives me when he looks the other way gives me my answer.

"That's why. But that's not the number one reason. The number one reason is that I want to know what the heck is wrong with me. I'm not scared of Soren but I think a few days away from him would do us both some good." I make up the excuse. Well, their not exactly excuses, but then again they are.

He does nothing but nod his head at the Soren subject but still argues his point, "Are you sure you trust them taking us somewhere? I mean, why is he taking us anywhere in the first place?"

"Because he hopes it will spark something in my memory." I reply.

Last night, Lincon explained everything to me. He explained how they are going to try to get my memory back, and this was the first thing they could think of. He told me my whole "Life Story" but I don't remember doing a thing of what he's saying.

He told me if I see a wolf outside, not to panic because their just the Werewolves on guard. I listened to him talk, and he seemed to be being careful with what he said. I'm not sure why, though. He explained how the curse will automatically make me hurt if I see something that is able to trigger my memory. Apparently that's why I hurt so bad when certain people come around. But, whatever my "trigger" is won't hurt me, it will automatically let me remember.

The only reason I trust these people is because they were in my journal. Their names, their faces, and their memories. Seran thinks I'm crazy. I don't have to ask him to know he thinks I am.

Lincon suddenly steps into the room and the ache in my head returns.

"Ever heard of knocking?" Seran glares playfully. He took a liking to Lincon, apparently.

Lincon then walks out, shuts the door, knocks, and walks back in. I laugh but immediately stop when a stabbing pain goes through me ears.

Suddenly I hear a soft echo in my head, Ever heard of knocking? It sounded like me repeating the words.

Lincon and Seran fail to notice my little episode so I don't say anything.

"Anyway, I wanted to let y'all know I'm going to take y'all to Dean, one of Dominic's friends. He's going to help us to get away with this and take you to a buddy of his that is Chief of the Police Station. You used to be an officer so we're going to see if anything there will.. You know. Dominic isn't coming because of our situation." Lincon informs us.

"Why not just take me to my original station?" I ask.

"'Cause you're wanted." He shrugs his shoulders causally.

My jaw drops and I ask, "Why?!"

"Aiding and abetting a criminal. That criminal being Dominic. Oh, and what do you feel, in specific, when you're around people like Dominic? The people who effect you the most? Grant needs to know because he's trying to find an elixir that can help. Not exactly fix your memory, but help it." He explains.
