Chapter 19: Imprint

Taylor's POV:

I'm sitting on the railroad tracks again, staring at the same endless grass covered plains.

A hand touches my shoulder, but it doesn't scare me. A man, Dominic I believe, sit's beside me. My chocolate brown wolf lays on the opposite side and rests his head on his large paws.

Dominic has light, unshed tears in his eyes as he say's, "She'll remember. There's no way that she would have done this."

"What?" I ask.

I'm ignored as my chocolate wolf shifts into a man, but for some reason it doesn't scare me. He's the man who was at the police station.

"There had to be a reason. Maybe she was threatened." The officer reply's.

The man who I have decided is Dominic reply's, "She wouldn't have done this to herself. To me."

"What did I do?!" My patients breaks. I get on my knees and face him, laying my hands on his shoulders, shaking him slightly, but yank my hands away. It burnt to touch him.

"Please! What happened to me?! What did I do to you?! Who are you?!" I scream, tears burning the edges of my eyes.

He refuses to look at me, he stares at something on my shoulder. I look down and see a black tattoo of a wolf howling at the moon. In the moon are the initials D.D. When tears over flow both of our faces, he finally looks me in the eyes. That's when the sky above begins to melt into blackness.

His figure begins to blur and I try to grab ahold of him, but it's useless. It's like trying to hold onto water.

I jerk awake, again, and breath hard. I did something to myself...

I jump up with determination and throw the covers off of me. I limp to the dresser and yank my book from the drawer. I throw open the page and study the snake. Setting it down rather roughly, I step into the bathroom. I pull the neck on my pajama shirt down and see a very, very light grey imprint engraved into my skin. The same one from the dream. I leave the bedroom, slamming the door behind me.

I limp down the stairs as fast as I can, a rage slowly building with a sudden burst of courage, and see Soren sorting through mail at the counter.

I cross my arms and stand on the other side of the bar, glaring at him. He looks up and smiles as if everything is just fine.

"What happened to me? And it wasn't a car accident!" I quickly add.

His smile falls, "I don't know what you're talking about."

I study the snake on his arm. It's just like the one from my book.

"This!" I yell, grabbing his arms near his tattoo roughly and pointing at it, "This!" I scream, pointing at the newfound mark on my chest, "This!" I point to the scars.

"What is it?!" I demand.

---Dominic's POV---(Before the dream)

I stare at Grant in disbelief.

"You lying." I glare at him.

He shakes his head, "It's a spell. It can't be cast on someone without permission. It's one of the most powerful one's I've ever seen actually. Soren could not have forced this on her, she willingly took the mind-block."

I ignore the stab of hurt and ask, "Well? Can it be fixed?"

He points at me, "Yes. But, it's very hard. The day that she took the spell, she had to create a trigger. By this I mean there is a certain action, object, person, or maybe even a phrase that should trigger her memory. The only problem is we don't know what that trigger is.

"My best suggestion for you is to try to trigger it in her dreams. Or, if we're able to get her to fallow your Wolf, we can bring her home and try to find it, but that might make her uncooperative." Grant finishes.

---Taylor's POV---

He just stares at me with a blank and unreadable expression on his face.

"Well?" I push, crossing my arms across my chest and glaring at him with as much anger as I can muster up.

"You and I were and still are mates," He starts, "I had gone on a business trip when a man kidnapped you. He used something to wipe your memory of me but I was able to put it back, yet it took any other memory you had. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to upset you."

"What? What is a mate?!" I snap.

He then goes through a detailed speech about Werewolves.

"You're lying! And Werewolves? Really? That's your cover?" I ask adding a humorless laugh at the end.

He then grabs my arm and yanks me outside. Once we're there he takes a few steps away from me, shifting into a black Wolf. I gasp in shock. When he takes a step towards me I run inside the house and behind the couch.

My breaths come out in pants as I begin to freak out. My husband is a Werewolf. I'm his mate. I was kidnapped.

Soren steps inside and say's, "Taylor, it's alright." He leans beside me and grabs my hand.

"Who kidnapped me?" I ask just above a whisper.

"His name was Dominic." He reply's. I stare in shock. That doesn't add up, in my book I seemed so close to Dominic.

"But-" He interrupts me, "He filled your head with fake memories. Lies. Never trust him, alright?"

I nod my head and he kisses my forehead, "I was called to work, I'll be home soon. You need some space anyway."

With that said, he leaves.

I stand up with shaky legs and go outside, hoping my Wolf will come back and bring me some sanity. I sit in the grass and wait. It's almost noon when my brown wolf emerges with a man beside him.

Dominic.

I skittishly stand up and waver backwards, causing him to stop. My Wolf jogs up to me and rubs against my legs. Dominic begins to walk up to me again, he calls out, "Taylor?"

"Stay away from me!" I yell, tumbling backwards. I would have fallen over if it weren't for my wolf helping me catch myself from behind.

He sighs in hurt as if he was expecting this. Seran steps outside, "Hey Taylor, where's th-" He stops in the middle of his sentence.

"Seran, get inside." I demand.

"Taylor, that's Dominic." Seran claims in confusion.

"Seran! I said-" My sentence is halted when something hits me in the neck. I pull a dart from my neck and start to waver on my feet. A numbness begins to spread from where the dart hit.

One hits Seran, but I can't cry out.

Dominic runs up to me, grabbing me when I'm about to fall. I hear him, in an echo like voice, "I'm sorry Baby Girl, it's the only way."
