Chapter 5: Sinister Smirk (Ian Somerhalder as Soren Brooks, picture above... My new book: Turned Rouge, has now been published) -Bri*
Dominic's POV:
Lincon casually get's gas as Taylor sits in the back with Xander, being sure to keep him out of view. Dean's friend goes into the store as he makes his way towards me. I keep my arms crossed, leaning against Taylor's window, as he stops in front of me.
"What?" I ask.
"I hear you've been having problems." He states.
"And?" I ask, completely uninterested in whatever he has to offer.
"And, I know better than anyone that you want Soren six feet under as much as I do." He growls.
"And what exactly did he do to you?" I ask, one eyebrow raised.
"None of your concern. And don't worry. I know what he's after, you don't have to hide that from me." He claims, referring to the fact that I haven't moved an inch from he window.
I let out a sigh and glance behind me.
"And what do you propose you do?" I ask.
"Not me. We. I can have things done, but I need you to get me a bit of info for me." He offers.
"No. No way. Never again am I sticking my nose where it doesn't belong." I warn.
He then steps forward, two inches away from my face, "You already have," He pauses for a minute, then shoves a piece of paper into my chest harshly, "Take it into consideration." Then he walks away.
Just what I needed, someone else on my tail. I shove the paper into my jacket pocket and yank open the door. Everyone is sitting in the car staring at me.
"Just go." I growl and run my hand through my hair.
A few minutes later, Lincon whines, "How much longer?" As he fallows the directions on the GPS.
"A little over four hours." I reply.
"Can we at least eat? I'm dyeing over here!" He complains.
"Yeah, whatever. Just stop somewhere." I reply, my head somewhere else.
A few minutes later we pull of the Interstate and into a McDonald's. We pull through the drive through and read off our order, then Lincon parks so we can eat.
We eat in silence, music playing in the background, "Their food tastes different." Taylor claims.
"I heard they were doing something different, didn't bother to read it though." I reply.
She hums in response and continues to eat. About fifteen minutes later and were back on the road.
-----One hour later-----
"We need to get gas again." Lincon groans.
"Didn't you just fill it up?" I ask, attempting to rub the sleep out of my eyes.
"Well yeah, but I only had like ten bucks." He reply's.
I roll my eyes and toss him fifty from my wallet. He once again pulls off of the Interstate and into a Chevron.
The sun is beginning to set and for some reason I feel absolutely exhausted. I rest my eyes for a little bit, but end up falling asleep.
-----Taylor's POV-----
Lincon gets back in the car and I lean between the seats to see Nick is out cold. I look at Lincon, about to say something, until I notice what he's doing.
He's trying to put his seat belt on, but it looks like his coordination is off. He can't get the buckle in.
"Are you ok, Lincon?" I ask.
"Yeah," He slurs, "Just... Tired." With that said, he stops trying to buckle himself in and passes out.
"Lincon?" I ask, trying to shake him awake, "Lincon!" I then reach over to Dominic and try to get him to wake up, but I get the same reaction.
I feel for a pulse and guarantee that their both still breathing. I quickly get out and run into the store. I look around the isle's but don't see Xander. I run to the cashier, "Did you see a thirteen year old blonde boy come in here?"
"Yeah, his dad came and got him." He say's, confusion on his face. His dad never came inside. I run outside and try to sniff him out, but I can't. All of my senses are gone. I try to shift into my Wolf, but it doesn't work.
I panic as I look to the left and see a silver truck pull out of the parking lot quickly, with none other than someone with black hair driving, his face turned towards mine with a sinister smirk.
I run to our truck and try to pull Lincon out of the drivers seat, but he's heavy. I try as hard as I can, taking up about five minutes already, but my strength is gone.
"Ma'am? Do you need me to call an ambulance?" A man from the pump beside me ask's.
"No!" I say a little too quickly. Ambulance means cops, cops means I'm arrested.
"I mean, no. He just had too much to drink. Can you help me get him in the back?" I ask.
"Yeah, wait, Lincon?" He ask's.
"Are you a Wolf?" I panic. If he knows Lincon, he might be a Wolf. I just need help, it doesn't matter how I get it.
"Yeah, what's-" I interrupt him, "Look I need your help, they were given something to make them sleep, Sor-" I stop myself, "Someone drugged our food. Someone just took my Son, I need your help, please!"
"What do you want me to do?" He ask's. This man must have known Lincon for a while.
"Track his scent," I throw him Xander's jacket so he can get his scent, "He left in a silver truck, his name is Xander. Don't get too close, just call me and tell me with when and where you find him. Hurry before you loose the scent. Thank you so much." I grab a pen from our truck and write my number on his hand.
"It's no problem." He reply's as he gets in his truck and drives away. He didn't even sniff the jacket, and he didn't roll his window down to fallow the trail, either.
I feel like I just made a big mistake.
