7 Years Later:- Washington DC, USA

Things have changed completely now. We've moved to the United States Of America. The fact that my parents and uncle and aunt kept going to USA made us suspicious about it. We live in our mansion at 300 Riverbend Road, Great Falls, Fairfax County, Virginia. It's just 28 minutes away from Washington DC.

My grandad, Granduncle, Dad, Chachu, Dad's first cousin, i.e., Grandpa's elder brother's son, are all diamond merchants. Singhania Diamond Foundation is one of the largest diamond jewelry manufacturers in the world. We trade in rough diamonds, manufacture and distribute polished diamonds and jewelry. We have more than 200 jewelry showrooms in the world, with the maximum number in India and the USA, Australia, and London.

Other than that, we also have an import-export business handled by my brothers and cousin sister Gautam bhai, Nikhil bhai, Karan bhai, and Kriti dee. Karan bhai and Kriti dee are my second cousins, my Granduncle's grandson and granddaughter. They also manage the diamond business and help Dad, Chachu, and Tauji with it. I study at the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven, Connecticut. I'm 22 years old now, and I'll turn 23 soon. I've been living there for the past 5 years.

Aashi aka Dolly dee is a jewelry designer; she works with Dad, Chachu, and Tauji, assisting them in their business. My mom and chachi own the only Indian boutique in Washington DC, which is quite famous. Indians from all over the USA come to buy stuff from them. They are famous designers.

Our family business is a huge success now, after facing tons of obstacles and difficulties. Hard work pays!

It's my graduation day after a week. I'm so happy. Finally, I'm an architect. I'm so close to fulfilling my dreams. I'll take a 2-month break, and then I'll search for a job. I'm currently in New York City at my Pratik Tauji's mansion. I just came to visit them, traveling all the way from Connecticut to New York City. They have 3 luxurious penthouses in New York City and a mansion just outside New York City. I was currently in the mansion, and everybody is staying here since I'm here in New York, spending time with me.

Pratik Tauji said, "Alia bacha, we're really, really proud of you. We knew that you'll come out as an architect with flying colors by seeing you working hard and showing complete dedication. Keep it up. Be the same in your career."

I said, "thanks, Tauji, these 5 years were beautiful. I learned a lot."

Savita Taiji asked, "when is your graduation ceremony?"

I replied, "on 22nd May, in New Haven, Yale School of Architecture at the campus lawns. I've got passes for you all. You all have to come."

Tauji asked, "Savita, do you know where Karan and Kriti are?"

Savita Taiji said, "Pratik, they have gone out; they said they have something to do."

Then I suddenly got a call. It was Kriti dee.

I answered, "yo Kriti dee. Where are you? Tauji was asking about your whereabouts. Are you with Karan bhai?"

Kriti dee said, "Alia, please come fast. We're in the Manhattan penthouse, the most spacious one. Come fast, please. The chauffeur is waiting for you outside the mansion."

The call ended.

I quickly explained everything to Tauji Taiji, and they said that they'll come along. We left. The moment we entered, it was all dark. Suddenly the lights were switched on, and I heard a few people yell, 'Surprise.'

I was shocked to see Gautam bhai, Nik bhai, Nisha bhabhi (Nisha Mirchandani is now Nikhil's wife Nisha Singhania), Aashi dee, Ishika, Riya, Rohit, Adheer, Priyanka, Ayesha, Samaira, Dakshita, Sanya. I was so happy. I had seen everyone last time at Nik bhai's wedding 2 years ago. I only met Gautam bhai, Mom, Dad after that; no one else.

I hugged them all one by one.

I asked, "so, this was all planned by the 4 of you, am I right?" I asked while looking at Taiji Tauji, Karan bhai, Kriti dee.

Nik bhai said, "yes, Alia. Get ready because tonight we're going to throw a pre-graduation party for you, girl." They all squealed happily.

I asked, "Gautam bhai, why did papa not come with you guys?"

Aashi dee said, "he's in Hong Kong for a meeting. He'll come for your graduation ceremony, don't worry."

I said, "fine, what about the venue for tonight?"

Adheer said, "it's a surprise for you sis; just wait and watch."

I smiled widely. We all had lunch at the penthouse. After a while, the others went to the hotel, and a few of them stayed in the penthouse, and me and my Singhania squad went to the mansion.

I was excited.
