2 WEEKS LATER

ROHAN DEV RAICHAND

It had been two weeks, and life felt like hell. Meaning seemed to drain away without Natasha. I was engulfed in loneliness, finding it hard to even go to the office without her. I felt incomplete, like a part of me was missing. To cope, I buried myself in work, rarely going home. Most of my time was spent at Natasha's penthouse, using the spare keys she had given me. Staying there was a feeble attempt to alleviate the pain of missing her. During these weeks, I persistently tried to reach out to her through calls and texts, but she never responded. It felt like the world had ended, and I was trapped in a dark room. Work became my refuge.

Questions swirled in my mind. Why was she ignoring me? Avoiding me again? I knew she was attempting to distance herself, but why? Was I a bad person? Why did she leave me? Did I do something wrong? I wasn't bothering her like before, so why was she avoiding me? Feelings of hurt, uselessness, and rejection clouded my thoughts. I felt depressed, irritated, and angry. Why did she ignore me all these days? Did she ever consider me her best friend, or were those just lies? True best friends don't ignore each other, no matter what. What was going on in her mind?

One evening, I grabbed my guitar and poured my emotions into sad songs. Music was my solace, a way to express my feelings. Afterward, I took a shower, got ready for the office, and joined my father, uncle and Kabir and Soham bhai.

At the office, I entered my cabin to find Randheer, Abhishek, and Abhinav waiting for me.

Randheer greeted, "Yo, Dev! Did you like the surprise?"

Abhinav added, "Arnab uncle and Soham bhai were part of the surprise plan. It wouldn't have been possible without their help."

Abhishek questioned, "Aren't you happy to see us?" Despite my inner turmoil, seeing my friends after a long time brought a momentary sense of happiness.

I suggested, "Come on, boys, let's go to my penthouse and spend some time there."

Randheer agreed, "Now that's like our Dev." We shared a brotherly hug and left my cabin. Soham bhai and Kabir joined us.

Soham bhai informed, "So, little brother, how was the surprise? Randy, Abhi, and Abhi are staying in Canada for a month. We've planned this surprise to lift your spirits. We just want you to come back in form and be happy, dude. Cheer up!"

Abhinav added, "Let's go now and have dinner with cocktails. It's been so long since I drank."

Randheer agreed, "I agree, bro."

I suggested, "Alright, my dear assholes want cocktails. I'll get them; you guys stay here."

Kabir offered, "Bhai, I'll come with you."

I declined, "No, no. I'll go; you guys stay here." Taking my bike keys, I left.

As I rode, Natasha's thoughts flooded my mind, making me oblivious to my surroundings. In my daze, I didn't notice a mini-truck approaching from the opposite direction. It collided with me, and I fell off my bike, sustaining injuries. Good Samaritans helped me into their car, assuring to bring my bike to the hospital. They rushed me to St. Joseph's Hospital, and soon, I blacked out.

KABIR RAICHAND

By 7 p.m., it had been 1.5 hours since my brother left. Randheer expressed relief at seeing Dev happy, but it was evident he was struggling beneath the surface. Abhinav pointed out, "I guess all this is happening because Alia went to the USA to spend time with her family."

Abhishek speculated, "She must be in touch with Dev, so why is he behaving like this? It's strange! I guess he's in love with her. He's a billionaire; he can go to Washington DC to meet her."
