NATASHA ALIA SINGHANIA3 MONTHS LATER
Me and my family gathered for dinner in the elegant dining room of our mansion.
Dad enthusiastically announced, "This weekend, there's a party at The Goel mansion in San Francisco."
Without a moment's hesitation, I declared, "I won't be attending."
Curious, Gautam bhai inquired, "Why? Are you and Riya at loggerheads or something?"
Setting the record straight, I clarified, "No, not at all. You guys go ahead. I'm headed to Toronto. My dear friend Katie Anderson is tying the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Eric Samuelson. Nupur, Nicole, and I, along with two other friends, are honored to be her bridesmaids. I must be there. Riya herself will be in attendance, along with Ishika; they both know Katie."
Nikhil chimed in, "Eric Samuelson, the son of Nick and Claudia Samuelson, right? They're one of Canada's wealthiest multibillionaire families."
Aashi added, "Indeed, Soham often talks about them."
(Soham Raichand, Rohan Raichand's second cousin, is Aashi Singhania's fiancé.)
Nisha contributed, "Katie's family is also among the wealthiest in the USA. She comes from the family of renowned doctors."
Chachu intervened, "Alright, alright, you have a great time and be sure to send plenty of pictures. When are you departing, and when is your return?"
"I'm leaving on Thursday night, and I'll be back Monday early morning," I informed.
Chachu responded, "Excellent."
Mom inquired, "Where will you be staying?"
"With Nupur and Nicole in Katie's family mansion in Canada," I replied.
Dad suggested, "Try to visit the Raichands if possible."
At the mere mention of that family's name, my body tensed. It automatically brought Rohan to mind. Despite my efforts, he doesn't fade easily from my thoughts. His presence is as persistent and stubborn as he is. Do I truly have feelings for him?
Interrupting my reverie, Mom called, "Hello, Alu bacha. Where are you? Dad said something."
Snapping back, I replied, "Yeah, yeah, Dad, I'll try."
Dad concluded, "Okay. Let them know if you need anything. They'll help you."
"Alright, Dad," I said, and we resumed our dinner. Two days later, Ishika and I set off for Canada, meeting Riya, Nupur, and Nicole at the Toronto airport before heading to Katie's family mansion.
ROHAN DEV RAICHAND
In my room, I was engrossed in the latest movie on my laptop, a knock on the door interrupted my focus. "Come in," I called out.
Dakshita and Kabir entered.
Dakshita inquired, "Bhai, are you coming to Nirav's house party this weekend?"
Regrettably, I responded, "Sorry, Dakshi. I'm the best man for Eric Samuelson's wedding, alongside Sameer, Daksh, Henry, and Oleg. It's my buddy's big day, and I can't miss it. The wedding is in Canada, so I'll be here only for the weekend. You guys enjoy with Riya and Nirav in San Francisco."
Kabir teased, "Alright. We'll convey the message to Nirav. You enjoy and make sure to send some pictures. And don't miss us too much because we won't miss you." He laughed, and Dakshi joined in. I playfully smacked Kabir's head and chuckled.
Curious about my movie choice, Dakshita asked, "Which movie are you watching, bhai?"
"I'm watching 'Andhadhun' (a Hindi film)," I replied.
Dakshita exclaimed, "Continue, continue; it's amazing. I've seen it." I nodded.
Kabir cheekily smiled and said, "Good night, bhai."
Dakshita added, "Good night, bhai," before walking out.
Kabir, with a mischievous grin, playfully teased, "Sweet dreams. Don't undress Alia in your dreams, bad playboy." He laughed and darted out. In response, I threw my pillow.
I couldn't help but smile like an idiot. Her name alone had the power to make me melt. This had been happening for the past 7 years since that unforgettable kiss.
ALIA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME...
The next day, at Cafe Crepe, one of Toronto's finest cafes, I unexpectedly encountered Sanya, my ex-girlfriend turned best friend.
"What a pleasant surprise, Sanya? How come you're here in Canada?" I inquired.
Sanya explained, "I came for a meeting, and my clients suggested this place for coffee. So here I am. Come, have a seat; let's have coffee together."
We delved into various topics, and it felt gratifying to reconnect with her. Sanya had been my best girlfriend, the most understanding and kind one among all.
Finally gathering the courage, I broached a lingering question, "I always wanted to ask you this: why did you break up with me? You never revealed the reason."
She chuckled lightly and shared, "I always wanted to tell you the reason, but I never had the courage. Now that you've asked, I'll tell you. I genuinely liked you at that time. Everything was going well until my parents discovered I was dating someone."
Shocked, I inquired, "What did uncle and aunty say?"
"They were upset because, according to them, that age wasn't meant for dating. We should focus on our careers first and date after establishing ourselves. When I told them I was dating you, they calmed down. However, they explained that studies and career should be my priority, not dating. My parents are a bit strict. Even Nisha dee couldn't help me. So, I had to break up with you. But now I'm completely over you, and you're just a best friend. Everything I said during the breakup was true. So, that was the reason," Sanya revealed.
I said, "Oh God. I would have understood if you had told me. Whatever you said during the breakup was true. You were always a best friend. When you broke up with me, I was emotionless. It's alright. Now that it's in the past, let's forget it and remain best friends forever, okay?"
She nodded, and we hugged. Afterward, I took her to our mansion, where everyone was thrilled to see Sanya. Although they briefly thought we were rekindling our romance, we clarified the situation. Kabir almost spilled the beans about my feelings for Natasha, but I managed to hush him.
Later, as I sat in the mansion's lawn, scrolling through my phone, I realized I had discreetly taken many candid pictures of Alia during her graduation and had captured numerous screenshots of her pictures. Suddenly, a hand rested on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw Sanya.
"You like her a lot, don't you?" she asked.
I admitted, "Yes."
Encouragingly, she said, "Why don't you tell her? Try to win her heart and make her yours forever."
Hesitant, I replied, "I don't know."
"Dev, come on, buddy. I can see that you really like her. I've never seen so much desire and affection in your eyes for any other girl before, but I see it now for Alia," Sanya said.
I confessed, "It's not easy. Natasha is a tough nut to crack. She always avoids me, an expert in escaping."
Sanya advised, "So, keep chasing her. Trust me, Rohan, the day you truly realize that you have deep feelings for Alia, mark my words. No matter how quickly and far she runs away from you, you'll chase her, and you'll be faster than her. Once you catch her, she won't be able to escape your grasp. Chasing her won't be easy, but your feelings will make it easier."
With that, she went inside the mansion, leaving me lost in contemplation.
Somewhere, she's right. Yet, I remain unsure. Only time will reveal whether I truly have feelings for her.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH SHE AVOIDS ME AND TRIES TO ESCAPE, I WILL KEEP CHASING HER...
