3 Weeks Later

Elphin Road, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.

NATASHA ALIA SINGHANIA.

It has been two weeks since my arrival in Australia. I've enrolled in the School of Architecture and Design, situated on Invermay Road in Launceston, as part of the University of Tasmania. I'm residing in a three-bedroom apartment owned by my maternal uncle, Neil Patel. My family allowed me to come to Australia with the condition that I provide regular updates to the Patel family, including Neil Mamu, Avni Mami, Aarav bhai, Navya, and Divya. Aarav bhai and Neil Mamu frequently visit to check on me. I suspect my family members are keeping a close eye on my activities, possibly even tracking my every move. Navya, Divya, and Avni Mami stay with me every weekend to ensure I don't feel lonely.

In Launceston, I have only one friend who shares the same sense of loneliness as I do. Fortunately, she's an Indian based in America, hailing from Atlanta. Her name is Nishi Shah, and we've found solace in our mutual solitude. Nishi once stayed with me for a brief period, just for two days. Her journey to pursue architecture took her away from home, as her family insisted on her pursuing a career in medical science to become a doctor.

Tasmania, with its breathtaking beauty, offers a peaceful refuge, allowing me to ground myself away from the constant scrutiny. It's a place where I feel at home.

The only individuals aware of my presence in Australia for higher studies are my close circle: my family, Pratik Tauji and his family, Patel family, and a few friends. Notably, Aashi Singhania Raichand from the Raichand family is also aware. However, I deliberately kept this information from Riya and Priyanka due to their close ties with Rohan.

Despite missing Rohan and grappling with the pain he caused, I find solace in the serene environment of Tasmania. The simplicity and peace here, away from media, paparazzi, and high-society events, have allowed me to appreciate the ordinary life I longed for. Tasmania's beauty, with its quietude and simplicity, has captivated me, and I wish to build my own life here. The desire to live an ordinary life in Tasmania, free from the trappings of high society, intensified within me.

My days at the School of Architecture are pleasant, with competent teachers and a positive learning environment. Nishi has been a reliable companion, introducing me to the enchanting places in Launceston, such as Cataract Gorge Reserve, City Park Launceston, Gorge Scenic Chairlift, and Tamar Island Wetlands Centre. Regarding Rohan, I deny my lingering feelings and insist that I have moved on. However, Navya, Divya, Nishi, and even Avni Mami believe otherwise. I continued to assert that Rohan's betrayal severed our connection, but deep down, the hurt and anger persist.

I'm currently in the apartment, making Spaghetti aglio e olio paired with chili cheese toast. Today marks my cheat day, and fortunately, it's also Nishi's cheat day. She'll be joining me tonight as she's staying over. Looking forward to Friday when Navya and Divya are scheduled to visit. However, this time, Avni Mami won't be able to make it as she, along with Neil Mamu and my mom, has gone to Ahmedabad to be with my maternal grandparents. Unfortunately, my mom's dad is not well and is in critical condition. In Sydney, only Navya, Divya, and Aarav bhai are around. Aarav bhai won't be joining us tomorrow since he's flying to Perth this weekend for a meeting. He'll be back in Sydney early Monday morning.

My phone rang, and I saw Gautam bhai's name flashing on the screen. Answering the call, I greeted him, "Hey bhai. How are you? When did you come back from Dubai?"

Gautam bhai shared, "I returned two days after you left for Australia. Karan, Nikhil, and I are deeply involved in a massive multi-billion-dollar project with Abhinav, Abhishek, Ishaan, Nirav, Soham, Kabir, and Rohan."
