Chapter 3
Devon gulped another shot of whiskey and felt the burn in his throat. He was hoping that the alcohol would numb the piercing pain in his chest but it didn't.
He can't help but question himself. Where did he go wrong? Was it his attitude? Did his former submissive don't like being spoiled? Fuck! He gave Jamie everything, but he broke his heart in return.
Devon gritted his teeth and massaged his temples. He glanced at the bartender coldly and slid his empty glass. The bartender immediately filled his glass and he downed it in a flash.
Devon couldn't care less if the staff were looking at him weirdly. Who wouldn't? He is drinking in his club in broad daylight. This has been his routine for that past month. He made a rule never to disturb him, or they would get their faces smashed.
Trevor already told him to get his shit together and stop acting like a child. He scoffed and slowly shook his head. What does Trevor know? He has Jesse, the perfect little for him, and the love of his life.
While here is, drowning himself in barrels of alcohol because his former submissive cheated on him. Devon gulped another shot as painful memories flashed in his mind.
It was supposedly their second-year anniversary. Devon has decided that Jamie was the one for him so he flies to Paris to finally get the customized diamond-encrusted collar. He was going to make Jamie his in every sense of the word by proposing to him.
Devon arranged a perfect night for them. He asked Stefan for a reservation at one of the latter's high-end restaurants. The reserved table had a great view where they could enjoy the fireworks display Devon had previously arranged as well.
On the edge of his seat in one of his family's private jets, Devon's heart was pumping furiously and his pulse racing wildly. He was so excited and at the same time, scared. There's a possibility that Jamie could refuse after all, but Devon was not convinced that Jamie would do that to him.
Devon could feel how Jamie loves him. Jamie was the perfect submissive for Devon, and the latter could not ask for more. Jamie was obedient, caring, and purely innocent. The boy would always deliver his lunch at Stefan's company where he would usually stay as Stefan's bodyguard. In their almost two years of being together, Devon gave nothing but love and luxury to the boy.
Stefan and Trevor were quite uncertain about his proposal to Jamie, but he did not let them interfere. He was sure that Jamie would be the one he will spend his life with.
Finally arriving at the airport, Devon drove to their apartment with Jamie's beautiful collar with him.
Just imagining Jamie's brown eyes glistening with tears of joy was enough to plaster a wide grin in Devon's face. With a light heart and a pleased countenance, he accelerated to his place.
It was seven in the evening and his plan would commence at nine in the evening. When he reached his apartment, he rolled down the car window and greeted the security guard.
The guard approached him, quite worried and unsure. "Good evening, Mr. Slane. How was your trip?"
Devon smiled and glanced at the box where Jamie's collar was resting. "Can't complain, Lowell. How about you? What made you restless?"
Lowell swallowed before he looked at Mr. Slane again. The man was a good employer. In fact, Mr. Slane was the one who gave him a job when he had nothing. Lowell also knew how much Mr. Slane adored Jamie, so he found it hard to break the news down to his kind boss.
Devon wrinkled his brows and climbed down the car. Something is not right. Lowell was the kind of guy who was straightforward and frank, so seeing him fidget and dart his eyes everywhere was something rare. "What's wrong, Lowell? Did something happen to your family? Do you need money? I can give you--"
