Devon woke up with a heavy feeling. He touched his forehead and it was hotter than his usual temperature. Also, Devon could feel a pain in his limbs and he has no energy to sit up and look for the medicine kit. Devon's body feels so heavy and his eyelids hot and droopy.

With a soft groan, Devon buried the back of his head on the soft pillow and closed his eyes. Maybe, I'll feel better later.

Elijah, who stirred in his sleep and scooted towards Devon, shot his eyes open when his hand touched Devon's burning neck. Elijah sat up abruptly and audibly gasped. "Dev, you're burning hot. What should I do?"

Elijah caressed Devon's face and looked around frantically. Devon slowly reopened his eyes and in a sleepy haze, caught a glimpse of Elijah's worried expression. I'm alright, sunshine, Devon wants to assure Elijah but for some reason, Devon feels so weak and sleepy.

With a sniff, Elijah got out of the bed and turned off the aircon when he noticed that Devon started to get chilly. After that, Elijah dashed to their walk-in closet to look for a comforter. He also reached for a set of comfy clothes for Devon and some cotton towels.

Elijah draped the comforter on Devon's body and Elijah released a breath of relief when Devon heaved a pleased sigh. "Okay, Dev. I'm going to ask Trevor and Jesse what to do," Elijah said in a trembling voice and reached for his iPad on the bedside.

Elijah and Devon are staying temporarily in New York, in Devon's mansion, while Devon secretly builds a house for them. Devon prefers not to hire a permanent house staff, so the cleaning staff will visit the couple thrice a week. Devon is also a great cook, so they have no problem with that.

For groceries, Mina has been Devon's errand girl, which Mina doesn't mind because she gets to hang out with Elijah. Grayson is just a call away when the couple wants to go out, or Devon can drive when they want to go to a private place.

Since the threat to Oliver's life was finally dealt with, Stefan almost begged Trevor and Devon to let Stefan go and mind their own lives. After all, Stefan has The Phantom with him. Don Felipe also has his men guarding Stefan and Oliver against potential threats. Therefore, Trevor and Devon have so much time on their hands to devote to their loved ones.

It has been a month since Elijah and Devon got engaged, and it has been a blissful month. The couple's sweetness was so overwhelming that Lexus feels relieved that Elijah is in good hands.

Lexus is currently under the employment of Trevor. Lexus is helping Trevor research new medicines and supplements for carriers, especially for pregnant ones. Carrier pregnancy is very delicate so the advancement in carrier drugs and treatment would help with the carriers' mortality.

Elijah went to the kitchen and placed his iPad on the marble countertop. Elijah contacted Jesse and waited for Jesse to pick up the call. When Jesse did, Elijah's lips trembled, his blue eyes shimmered, and in two seconds, became a bawling mess, startling Jesse and Trevor, who had Jesse on his lap. The couple was having breakfast in bed when Elijah called.

"Hey, boo. Calm down. Take a deep breath," Jesse calmed Elijah down and with a sniffle, Elijah followed Jesse's instructions. "There, there. What happened, Eli? Are you hurt? Is Devon hurt?"

Large tears rolled over Elijah's cheeks when Jesse hit the target. Jesse glanced at Trevor and Trevor nodded. "On it, babe. I'll call Amanda and Robert," Trevor said and dropped a kiss on Jesse's lips before stepping out.
