I dosed off on the way to my "new home." When I woke up I was no longer in the car. Instead, I was in a bed. For a moment I thought it was all just a dream, but I then realized the room I was in was unfamiliar.I scanned around the room checking to see if someone was in here before getting up. I saw no one. My eyes landed on all the luggage that I'm assuming is mine. I must be at the other kingdom.
I walked out of the room and was standing in the middle of a hallway. I looked down both ways thinking about which way I should go. I went right.
As soon as I left the room, I noticed something strange. There wasn't a single person in sight. It was just quiet. No sounds of footsteps echoing through the halls, or or people discussing things. Weird.
I've been walking around for about 30 minutes, and nothing about this palace has interested me. This place is basically like the palac back home. I wanted to find something new that made it different from home, but I shouldn't get my hopes up.
I turned down another hall, and ended back at the room I was sleeping in. I scolded myself when I noticed I just walked in a big circle without realizing it.
This is pointless. Even though this place looks like my old home I still can make my way through it. Instead of walking around in another circle I went back into the room. I then decided I might as well make myself at home since I have nothing else to do.
.
A couple hours have passed and I was just now finishing putting the last of my things away. I then sat on the bed and looked around the room satisfied with my work. The room filled with silence, only the ticking of a clock could be heard.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
I flopped backwards onto my bed. "Ughhh when will this day end!!" I stared up at the ceiling letting my thoughts distract me. You know for being forced to move into a new home, you'd think someone would at least welcome me here and help me settle in. With how things are going right now it's making think this prince really is a jerk.
I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't notice someone standing at the door. "Ahem.." I heard someone clear their throat causing me to jump from the sudden sound.
"It's ok I'm not going to hurt you. I apologize for startling you." A man who looks to be in his early 20's said sheepishly. He wore a dark grey suit, with a black tie. His hair the same chocolate brown as his eyes that kind of popped against his tan skin.
He cautously walked over to me, I'm guessing so he didn't frighten me again. When he reached the side of my bed he extended his hand out to me. "I'm Oliver, it is a pleasure to finally meet you." I took his hand hesitantly, and he placed a small kiss on my knuckles.
I kept looking at him with a confused look. He knows me? But how? I've never met this man, or any man. My father always kept me locked up and made sure I avoided all men, saying that I needed to stay pure.
After staring at him for a little I finally spoke up asking him the question that was on my mind, "How do you know who I am? I do not recall ever hearing about you."
He chuckled quietly at my question before answering, "Well I would hope that I would know who my soon to be wife is."
"You're the prince?" I asked, with a surprised tone.
A look of worry mixed with confusion washed over his face. "Did I already make a bad first impression?"
"No no it's not that its just.." I paused, searching my thoughts for the right words. "I just didn't expect you to be this polite and might I say handsome. If I'm going to be honest I thought I was going to end up with a snobby prince."
He laughed at my statement, making me laugh a little too. "I can promise you my mother raised me to be a proper gentleman. How about tomorrow we go for a walk on the grounds that way we can get to know each other better. I will also have a servant bring your dinner here that way you can continue settling in."
A small smile formed on my lips. "That sounds nice."
"Perfect. I'll come get you after breakfast."
With that he said his farewells and walked out of the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
A few hours later, a servant came to the room with my dinner just like he said. As I was eating I started thinking about how tomorrow might go. Oliver seemed to be a very kind man. If things go well I could actually start to love him over time. Maybe this whole arrangement won't be so bad after all.
Once I finished eating I placed the tray on the bed side table, and changed into my nightgown. I then crawled into the unfarmiliar bed, wrapping myself up in the soft covers. Surprisingly I fell asleep within minutes.
