When I awoke the next morning, my eyelids felt heavy. As I rubbed the sleep out of them, the memory of last night settled in. I felt happy that we could talk like that. Now there were no more mixed feelings. The only thing I had to figure out now was the situation with Oliver.I saw my maid scurrying throughout my room, preparing for my morning routine. When she saw I was awake, she stopped what she was doing and turned to me. "Good morning miss, your bath is ready whenever you are."
"Thank you."
I moved slowly towards my bathroom, every step echoing against the vastness of marble and glass. The maid came in behind me a few moments later and helped me remove my night gown with care. I then slipped into the tub full of warm water.
After my bath, the maid dried my hair, tying half up with a light blue ribbon. She then helped me into my dress that was the same color as the ribbon, with lace flowers on the top part that slowly faded into the skirt.
Once I was ready I went downstairs towards the entrance to meet with Oliver. He said a couple of days ago that his and my family would be arriving today for the wedding thats happening two weeks from today. I paused for a moment, clenching my stomach. I don't know why but the thought of the wedding made me fell nauseous.
I shook my head, trying to ignore the nausea and continued my way to the front foyer.
When I arrived, I saw multiple maids and servants running around, trying to finish up the preperations for everyones arrival. The king, queen, Octavia, and Oliver were also all there. I must have slept for too long.
When Oliver saw me decending down the last few steps he smiled and made his way towards me. "I'm glad to see that you could join us. For a moment I thought I was going to have to send a search party out for you."
I giggled at his joke. "My apologizes, I must've slept in by mistake. I hope you all weren't waiting too long for me."
"Not at all, we only got here a few moments ago. Our families should be arriving soon though."
Right as he said that, people started to file in through the door. The room quickly filled with excitement, cheers, and greetings.
I watched as loved ones hugged one another and started catching up. Two specific people caught my attention in the crowd. Two women, a lady and a hand maid. The two of them kept looking at each other in a way I've never seen two people look at each other.
I watched as the two of them look at each other with so much love in their eyes. I want that. I want to have that kind of love where you can say I love you without using your words. But I can't have that with Oliver. I love Octavia. But is it even possible for the two of us to be together?
"Seraphine, dear? Are you alright?" I was snapped out of my thoughts to the sound of my mother's voice. I didn't even notice she had approached me.
"Yes mother, I'm sorry I was just lost in thought."
"Oh I understand dear. With what happened yesterday and your wedding coming up so soon it would make sense for you to be a bit overwhelmed. But there's no need to worry dear, everything will be perfect." Right. The wedding. I almost forgot about that.
"Yes, I can't wait to marry the prince. He is such a wonderful man." I replied back, my smile starting to strain.
"I agree dear, he is such an attractive young man you two will make the most beautiful children."
"Mother.. I don't know about-"
"Now Seraphine, don't tell me you aren't having children? You must have them so that you have an heir to the throne and to continue your bloodline."
"But mother, what if I don't want children? What if I don't even love Oliver?"
"Now you hush don't say such things. You will marry him in two weeks, and you will have children. I don't want to hear anything else about it." My mother gave me one last look over. "Oh, and dear? Try smiling more, this is a wonderful occasion you should be happy." With that she walked off, probably looking for father.
I guess I should go look for Oliver. I think I saw him leaving while I was talking to my mother. Maybe I can ask him some things about all of this. Plus he never did answer my question since we were interrupted by... some events.
I started to walk out of the ball room, zigzagging my way through the crowd saying hello to those who spoke to me.
When I finally made it out I took a breath to calm myself before continuing my search. I walked down the halls, the sounds of my heels echoing with each step.
I came to a stop when the sound of shuffling and voices caught my ears.
The library? Why would anyone be in there right now with all these guests here. I slowly approached the cracked open door. When I peered inside I had to bite my lip to keep a gasp from escaping my lips.
I can't believe what I'm looking at right now.
