...........
The guard escorting me left me by the door. A few seconds later it opened to reveal a grand room that was bigger than the ball room. I saw Oliver and Octavia to the right of me, both looking quite pale and very solemn.

I sat down between the two of them and looked down towards the rundown stage. There was a large crowd of angry people gathered in front of it. A line of guards stood in between the stage and the people, preventing them from getting any closer.

What is going on?

I glanced over at Oliver who held an empty gaze while looking towards the stage. "Oliver? What's going on? Why are all those people angry?"

"Just keep watching.." he replied just loud enough for me to hear him over the crowd. I looked back towards the stage watching and waiting for something to happen.

A few moments later four people in chains walked onto the stage. Two young boys that look around my age and two older women who were maybe in their late 30's.

The yelling from the crowd seemed to get louder when they walked onto stage. Some even started throwing rocks or rotten food at them. My eyes kept darting around the room every time someone's voice stood out more in the crowd.

"Faggots!"

"You are the filth in the world!"

"Rot in hell you sinners!"

The room went dead silent when a gunshot rang throughout the courtroom. I then scanned the room looking for the one who shot the gun.

And there he was. The king. Standing on the stage with a gun in his hand pointed towards the air. "Now that I have everyone's attention, let us begin." he started, his voice booming through the room. "This filth that is standing before us has broken the law. They have been involved in same sex love."

Same sex love? I glanced over to Octavia to see she was a sickly pale. Her hands were holding onto the arm rests of the chair so tight that her knuckles were tiring white.

Why was she so worried about this? I know that she loves me and will keep me safe from her horrible father. Plus it's not like he would harm his own daughter.

"Apparently I have to go over this law once again. A woman with a woman, a man with another man is a crime in this country. I do not tolerate such a disgusting act in my kingdom, and you all know that when caught this crime is punishable by immediate death no matter who the person is."

I watched as he looked around the people in front of him. He looked towards the guards and some of the lords and lady's who showed. Finally his eyes landed on me, Oliver, and Octavia. "And this applies to everyone."

A gasp escaped my lips. "Oliver he can't really do this can he? You have to stop him, those people have done nothing wrong. There has to be something you can do."

"Seraphine, there is nothing I can do. He is king and his word is law. Those people down there broke his law knowing the consequences and now they are being punished for their crimes." Each word that left his lips took a jab at my heart.

"So you're going to tell me that you don't care if something happens to your own sister? Because I know that you know that she likes women. Oh, and what about Andrew? Are you just gonna watch him die too for being in love with you?"

I watched as his body tensed at the sound of Andrew's name, and he finally met my gaze. Fear filled them but quickly disappeared and was replaced with a cold stare. "I don't know what you're talking about Seraphine, but if I were you I'd keep my mouth shut unless you want to end up like those people on the stage."

"What happened to you Oliver? You were so sweet when I first got here, but now you're acting just like your father." With that I stood from my seat and started walking away. As I walked away I heard the king finishing up his "speech".

"You four have been found guilty of the crime of loving the same sex." I heard the click of the gun. "I hope you all rot in hell." Four gunshots sounded. Four thuds followed. I flinched with each one. Tears started to escape my eyes.

What have I gotten myself into..

......................................................................
*le gasp*

A new side of Oliver has been shown.

Now that Seraphine knows of this law, will it affect her feelings towards Octavia?

Until next time lovely readers
