When they started dragging me away, I finally saw who it was. "Octavia? What are you doing?"

"I just told you," she replied as we turned a corner into a room, "We are leaving the ball and relaxing for a moment because you seem tense. Plus, I wanted to ask you something that I couldn't ask out there in case someone showed up."

She locked the door behind us before finally letting go of me. "You're making me nervous Octavia... what's so important that you had to lock me in a room with you."

She turned towards me and the look in her eyes made me flinch slightly.

"Do you love me?"

I stared at her for a moment thinking about her question. I could feel my cheeks starting to heat up the more I thought about it. I really hope she can't see it. "I don't know what you mean." I whispered in response, no longer looking into her eyes so that she couldn't read me.

"Oh, I think you do." She took a step towards me and placed her fingers under my chin, lifting my head up so that our eyes met.

"Do you love me?" She asked again with her devious smile.

"I don't know." I answered quietly looking away again, and backing away from her. I thought that maybe if I avoided her question she'd leave it be, but Octavia isn't taken it for an answer.

She walked closer to me, causing me to back up even more until my back hit the wall. Her hand lifted my chin, forcing me to look at her again.

"Then why is it that when I look into your eyes they tell me they want more hm?" She whispered in my ear sending chills throughout my body. Did she somehow know about my dreams or my thoughts? No, that's impossible.

Before I could withdraw my mind from those thoughts, her arms were around me. I felt again the rush of helplessness, the sinking yielding, the surging tide of warmth.

She leaned down, her lips against my cheek, brushing it lightly - and still that light touch sent shivers through my nerves, shivers that made my entire body tremble. "If you want me to stop, tell me now," she whispered.

My voice was caught in my throat, she brushed her mouth against the hollow of my temple. "Or now." She traced the line of my cheekbone. "Or now." Her lips brushed against mine.

"Or—"

Without thinking, I pulled her down, and the rest of her words were lost against my mouth. She kissed me gently, carefully, but it wasn't gentleness I wanted, not now, not after all this.

She pulled away from the kiss, leaving me feeling slightly empty. Her eyes held some regret which hurt me a little but there was something else that I just couldn't place my finger on. "We should get to the event before someone comes looking for us." With that she walked away from me.

I stood there for who knows how long. I couldn't pull myself together. What was I thinking I shouldn't have done that it was wrong. But it felt so right.

"Seraphine? Are you in here?"

I didn't answer. Hoping whoever was looking for me would go away if no one answered. But just my luck they came in.

"Seraphine, what are you doing in here?" Even though my back was to them I recognized the voice once it was closer.

"I'm just taking a breather Oliver, it was becoming a bit much for me out there." I mumbled quickly with my back still turned.

"Would you like me to walk you back to your room?"

"No, I'll walk myself back. You stay here with you guests." I quickly walked past him before he could object and hurried down the hall. I decided the best choice was to go out the side and go the long way around to avoid all the lords and ladies in the ball room.

I knew this was going to be a terrible night.
