Jabir's point of view.I look at the ceiling, remembering how Adama was so defensive about that Qahhar. She really loves him.
I turn my head to look at the unoccupied space on the bed beside me. I miss her.
I sit up, glancing at the time. 5:50am, I better get ready for work. I stand up, stretching.
My phone rings as I pick it up from the bed and answered it after I saw an unknown number calling.
"Hello? Who's th-"
"Jabir, get over here now! You're needed! There's a neurotic surgery."
"There's doctor Hasneem, he can do it."
"He's isn't picking his phone up."
I groan. "I'll be there." I hang up, taking my kaftan that I threw on the chair and ran while I wore it.
I take my car keys when my stomach growled. I haven't eaten since lunch yesterday and it was just a few bite of sandwich.
I'll eat immediately I arrive there. I run to my car, stepping on the accelerator.
*****
I enter the building, walking to my office. "Jabir, you need to hurry." Doctor Zulaika reminds me. "Yeah, I'll be out!" I hurriedly changed my clothes to my scrubs.
I step out walking to the theatre, my stomach growling, reminding me how hungry I am. I forgot to eat, I'll eat when I'm done.
*****
"Stitch it up, you can handle the rest." I take off my gloves. "Okay." I take off my face mask, walking down the hall. "Excuse me, excuse me." A woman runs in front of me, her face soaked with tears.
"Yes? Can I help you?" She holds my hands tightly. "I'm the patient's mother, is she fine?"
I nod. "The blood has not affected it seriously so we were able to get rid of it. She's safe, she's soon going to be out. Congratulations." I smiles as she starts crying, sitting on the floor.
"Thank you." I smile at her and walk away when I feel dizzy, I try to continue when I collapsed. "Doctor!" I hear the woman's inaudible scream. My eyes blurry before it turned to darkness.
******
"Jabir, Jabir. Are you okay?" I hear Adama ask me, my eyes fluttering open. "Adama, you're here."
I feel her hands on mine. "Yeah, I heard the news so I ran over." I smile. "You were worried?"
She sighs. "Don't be, I'm fine."
"Why didn't you eat? You over work yourself and you don't eat." She scolds me, I usually don't like it but this like, I loved it.
I smile. "You're smiling?"
"I'm just happy that you care this much, I though you didn't care even a single bit." I caress her hand.
"I know we were in a rough position but I still care about you. I still.... Love you." She confesses, unable to look at me. "What do you mean?" I ask my voice full of happiness and shock.
"I love you, is there anything else to it?"
"Then why did you marry Qahhar?" She shrugs. "I don't know, i guess i wanted to convince myself that I was over you."
She bites her lip and I push my head more on the pillow, feeling relieved. I look back at her. "I love you too, I am sorry for the pain I caused you. I regret it, my life is miserable without you."
She smiles. "I love you, Adama." She hugs me, she pulls away before placing a kiss on my lips. I pull her to the bed, pulling her close to me.......
"Doctor Jabir! Jabir!" I open my eyes, seeing the middle aged woman that was crying. I close my eyes, letting out a sigh.
"I wish you let me sleep more." I muttered, using my arm to cover my eyes. "You fainted but it was said that you starved yourself and you don't have enough sleep apparently.."
I sit up. "Yes, I didn't eat. I was hoping to eat after I was done with the surgery which I forgot it takes over ten hours." I place my legs on the floor, wearing my crogs.
"Wait and eat first, I bought you some food." She hands me a box. "I am thankful for saving my daughter and I urge you to eat. Its not healthy especially for a person as busy as you."
I smile. "Thank you." She pats my shoulder before walking out of the room. I look at the clock. I got out surgery 12pm and it's 6pm now.
I open the box, there was a large burger, a medium sized fruit juice and an apple. I take the apple, taking a bite off it.
I better head back home and I'm not going to even change first. I'm leaving like this.
I drag my feet, hoping to leave. I pass the rooms when I heard a familiar laughter. "Be careful." I look through the window, sighting the middle aged woman and her daughter.
I turn to walk away when I see the apple that was in my hand which I almost finished eating. I eat the rest of the apple and threw it in the trash can before I wiped my mouth.
I knock on the door, the woman's head turning to me and a smile appearing on her face.
The daughter has a bandage wrapped around her head and her head on the pillow while she laid down.
"Oh, this is the doctor who operated on you. He saved your life." She introduces me to her daughter who seemed still out of it. It's even shocking she woke up this early. "She would've raba Jed you for everything but she's not yet fully conscious."
"There is not need, Its my job."
"I hope I can repay you." I shake my head. "No need, its good that she's feeling better. I'll head out now, have a nice day."
"Okay."
"Bye." The woman waves as I turned, walking away. "I wish he would marry you. You would be so lucky."
The mother says before I could walk out of the room completely. I smile, heading out to my car. I slide my key into the ignition as a BMW M5 parks opposite me.
I admire the car when a woman got out of the car. She takes her bag, locking the car. She turns when I see Adama.
She jogs towards the entrance. I turn on my car, I'm happy for her, I think. I drive off.
