Chapter 5: Training Part 2

Kai: "Wait, you want me to do what now?"

Ozpin: "You heard right. I want you to punch a hole through this hill" Kai and Ozpin stood at the foot of one of the several hills which were visible from the house in order to begin training.

Kai: "You out of your mind professor? There's no way I can do that"

Ozpin: "According to my calculations if you use 100%, you can. Till you achieve this, you will come here everyday and punch this hill, from mornings to evenings"

Kai: "Now you're just being ridiculous. I can't do any of this" Ozpin spoke again, but sternly this time, "Kai, this is serious. I want you to understand that we're running out of time. As we speak Salem is organising her forces to launch an attack on Haven Academy, and you're not ready. We have to speed up the process, even if it means utilizing more...extreme methods" Kai stopped, then sighed and turned to face the hill, "So I just punch this as hard as I can right?" Ozpin nodded, "Precisely. But do keep in mind, the goal is not only to punch the hole, but to punch the hole without using your 'other' side". Kai took a deep breath and activated his semblance. Eyes blazing, he coated his right fist in flames and drove it hard towards the mass of stone in front of him.

BOOM

Kai stared in disbelief at the dent his fist made in the hill. It wasn't small, but it was nowhere near his objective. Far from it in fact.

Ozpin: "Hit it again" Kai pulled back and swung his left fist at the hill.

BOOM

An identical dent appeared in the hill, just beside the first one. Kai frowned.

Ozpin: "Again"

BOOM

Ozpin: "Again"

BOOM

Ozpin: "Again" Kai grunted and unleashed a flurry of high speed blazing punches on the stone. The result was an array of multiple identical dents scattered on the side of the hill. Kai let out a low growl.

Ozpin: "Again"

Kai: "Aarrrgh!" He yelled in frustration as he pulled his hand back for another punch.

Ozpin: "Stop" Kai's fist stopped before it could make contact with the stone, caused by the tap of Ozpin's cane on Kai's arm, "Your eyes Kai. They're red"

Kai: "Tch" Kai blinked and his eyes returend to its golden color, "This is going to be a serious challenge"

Ozpin: "Well it wouldn't be training if it was easy now would it?"

Kai: "Yeah yeah whatever" He glanced at the damage he did to the hill, "But wouldn't this go faster if I had my blade? I can do way more damage if I used Raze"

Ozpin: "Well that's something else we have to correct. You can't always depend on having your weapon in battle, and thus you need to be able to draw out the same power with your fists as you would with your sword" Kai sighed deeply, and Ozpin put a hand on his shoulder, "I know this training isn't easy. But it's necessary if we want to stand a chance against Salem and her warriors"

Kai: "Yeah yeah I get it" He turned back to stare at the hill, "It's gonna be a long week"

~Two Weeks Later~

Kai stood panting at the bottom of yet another hill. Somewhere along the line he had to switch hills due to the amount of consecutive damage dealt from his training. Progress was being made, his punches were now able to make small craters in the body of the hill. As Ozpin had said, he was now able to equal his blade's power with his fists and the next step was increasing his aura limit from 80%.
