Chapter 10: Sudden Death

Yang: "KAI!" She, Nora, Ren and Jaune dashed over to Weiss' side, where she held Kai, still trembling.

Jaune: "No no no this can't be happening" Ruby stared on in shock, "Kai...?" Qrow stared dumbfounded and in shock as everyone gathered around the dark haired boy. Raven shook her head, "This is what happens when you oppose Salem. The only thing that awaits you, is meaningless death" Qrow spoke venomously, without turning to face Raven, "If he dies Raven...I will never forgive you", he then dashed over to Kai. As Jaune used his hands to apply pressure to the wound, and Ren checked on him, Nora asked, "Come on Ren, he has to be fine, right?"

Ren: "I...I don't know...this is bad...he's not breathing..."

Yang: "No no no no no..." She held on to Kai's arm and squeezed it tightly, "Kai please wake up! Open your eyes please, say something!"

Qrow: "Come on kid, it can't end like this. Not after everything"

Ren: "I...can't feel a pulse..."

Ruby: "No...no...no...NOOOOOO!!" She screamed and her eyes lit up as a bright and brilliant light emerged from them. Cinder flinched but before the light could get to her, Emerald struck Ruby in the back of the head, knocking her out.

Emerald: "I won't let you harm Cinder again" As Oscar and Nora rushed to Ruby, Emerald retreated to Cinder's side, "This is bad, I thought we weren't meant to go after Kai, much less kill him" Cinder simply shrugged and grinned, "Well, I didn't kill him. He simply got in the way of my attack, I'm sure Salem will understand. Besides, why does she want his power so much when she already has me?" Emerald nodded, but with uncertainty. On the other side of the room, Hazel scoffed, "This wasn't the plan. We're not supposed to harm the boy". Sensing movement, he turned, and picked up a panting Lionheart by the collar, "And you. You let that boy make a fool of you"

Lionheart: "That's not just a boy! It's Ozpin. He's already reincarnated" Hazel dropped Lionheart and slowly turned to look over at Oscar. His eyes drifted to Ozpin's cane. Then his face twisted with rage.

Hazel: "OZPIN! YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD HIDE FROM ME?!" Hazel tore off his coat, and picked out dust crystals from his pockets, "You'll pay for what you did. You'll die over, and OVER AGAIN!" He stuck the dust crystals directly into himself, and his body began to shimmer and brim with raw dust energy.

Qrow: "Dammit, it's just one thing after the other" As Hazel dashed at Oscar, he was immediately intercepted by Qrow, who then attempted to hold him off.

Cinder: "Ozpin is here?"

Raven: "Is that a problem?"

Cinder: "I'm not sure. But right now we've got the upper hand. Losing their 'friend' left them all in confusion. Let's not waste this chance. Leo! Open the passage to the vault!"

Lionheart nodded and rushed over to the statue beneath the balcony. Putting his pocket watch into a slot in the statue, the statue descended to form a sort of platform elevator. Cinder ordered Emerald and Mercury to stop anyone from coming after them. Meanwhile, the Jaune, Ren and Yang still srrounded Kai. Weiss still held Kai in her arms, but she was still in shock.

Yang: "I'm sorry Kai, I'm sorry I was so hard on you for leaving. Just come back, please" Jaune shook his head, tears flowing down his face, "I can't believe this is happening again...not you of all people...it wasn't supposed to be like this! Please Kai...!" he sobbed, "We can't lose anyone else..." Suddenly Jaune's arms began to shimmer and glow. The glow moved from Jaune's hands and began to spread round Kai's limp body. Ren slowly put out his hand to Kai's chest.

Ren: "I...I can feel a heartbeat!" Having being treated by Nora, Ruby rushed over to Kai, "What's going on now?" Ren smiled, "I...I think he's actually going to be okay"

Yang: "Whatever you're doing Jaune don't stop" Jaune nodded, "I won't". Ruby took a moment to look around and assess the situation. Oscar and Qrow battled Hazel, while Emerald and Mercury guarded the vault entrance.

Ruby: "Oscar needs help..."

Ren: "I'm on it"

Ruby: "Jaune and Kai still need cover" Nora nodded, "No one's gonna touch 'em"

Weiss: "I'll protect them as well" Everyone turned to face Weiss, who had seemed to come out of her shock, "It's my fault Kai's in this mess in the first place. The least I can do is make sure he gets the help he needs" Yang placed a hand on Weiss' shoulder, "Hey, it's not your fault" Ruby nodded, "Yeah, it's all Cinder. As always"

Nora: "They've gone after the relic"

Ruby: "Yang and I will go after them. Everyone else, you know what to do" as everyone nodded, Ruby concluded, "Come on Team! Let's make this work!"

Darkness.

It was all Kai saw. All he felt. Just floating on and on in endless darkness.

Then suddenly, a faint light appeared in the distance. It got brighter and brighter, growing larger as it approached him. Until, the brightness enveloped everything.

Kai blinked and found himself at the edge of a grassy cliff. As a gentle wind swept through the area, blowing his hair ever so slightly, he stared out into the depths below the cliff. He was met with a misty blackness. That was where the darkness was. Where he came from. But what pulled him out? And why? Where was he even?

???: "You know, if you look too hard you just might fall back in" Kai's eyes widened in shock at the sound of the voice. Slowly he turned around, and when he laid eyes on the owner of that voice, his eyes immediately began to tear up.

A huntress clad in familiar gold lined armour.

The familiar shield and spear.

Her fiery red hair and bright green eyes.

Kai finally managed to speak through the tears in his eyes, "I...I can't believe it's you"

Pyrrha let out a little laugh, "It's nice to see you again, Kai"
