Chapter 3: Ghost of Beacon Academy

Nora: "Did he age backwards?"

Jaune: "He's possessed!"

Ren: "Or reincarnated"

Ruby: "Ooh isn't he weird?" Oscar looked up at the four questioning faces that surrounded him and sighed, "It is very weird, yes" Just then, Qrow and Kai walked into the room

Qrow: "Okay okay, let's all just take a second and remember that this is overwhelming for everyone"

Kai: "Which means step away from the kid guys. You're freaking him out" Realizing themselves, the four students quickly backed away from Oscar, a bit embarrassed. Oscar turned to Kai, relieved, "Thanks". Kai nodded and smiled at him, "Don't mention it kid" He and Qrow sat down on the couch, as everyone else settled down. Oscar looked around at everyone, with a mixed expression of awe and timidity, "Uh, sorry, it's just...I've never really met huntsmen and huntresses before"

Ruby: "Well, we've never met a person with two souls so...first times all around" Oscar smiled at her, seeming like he was finally settling down.

Kai: "Okay. Now that I've finally gotten Qrow sober, we can understand what exactly is going on here"

Qrow: "Hey it only took like 3 cups of coffee"

Kai: "No, it took six Qrow. Which is still five too many. Just explain this to us already"

Qrow: "Okay okay" he turned to Oscar, "Hey, mind showing us your little parlour trick kid?" Oscar gave a small sigh, "Yeah. Okay. Just so you guys know, I'll still be here. Just...hope I don't do anything embarrassing" As the others looked at each other in confusion, Oscar took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Sudenly his body shimmered with green energy for a second, and when he opened his eyes they glowed shortly before reverting to normal. And when he finally spoke, he was a completely different person.

Ozpin: "It is so very good to see you again, students" The students stared in confusion.

Jaune: "Uh, wait, what just happened?"

Ren: "Professor...Ozpin?"

Ozpin: "Correct. And though I may be the one speaking, Oscar is still present mentally. He's merely handed over the controls, so to speak. I'm afraid this all must be very perplexing"

Nora: "And alarming. And bizarre. And just really kinda hard to believe overall" Ozpin chuckled, "It's good to see you children stil have your sense of humour...I know you've all been through tremendous hardship already"

Kai: "Do you though?" Ozpin turned to face Kai as he spoke, "You've been gone a really long time. Can you actually imagine what we've had to go through just to get here? What we all went through?"

Qrow: "Kai" At this Kai sighed and stared down at the floor, "Sorry...I'm relieved you're back professor, but I just..." Kai raised his head and faced Ozpin again, but this time with a sad expression in his face, "Did you know she died?" Ozpin's face fell, "Yes I...did find out about Miss Nikos' death. I'm sorry"

Ruby: "I mean...it's not your fault"

Ozpin: "Actually it's all my fault. I told you once that I had made more mistakes than any man woman or child on this planet, and I wasn't exaggerating. I'm...cursed. For thousands of years I've walked the surface of Remnant, living, dying and reincarnating in the body of a like-minded soul"

Ren: "So it was reincarnation"

Ozpin: "The Professor Ozpin you all know was not my first form, and clearly wasn't my last. It's...an extraordinarily strenuous process...on everyone involved"
