Ghost Hunt AU: Mai Lovely Ghost

Chapter 16

Mai is bored. Bored at 100%!

It was only a few minutes of her observing and she is bored out of her mind. She followed the twins in the University and went to check on Naru's class which is now a regretful decision.

I wonder if I was a good student when I was alive. She thought as she watch the Professor continue the lecture.

There was no clue yet about her past and the last case that the twins took (forcibly by Monk) was a hoax. The culprit of the poltergeist was just the son of the client. Seemingly he did it to get his parents to notice him.

Anyway, Yuki became part of the team. She's been very nice but she also sees me as a peculiar specimen (as a Lab rat might I add) like Naru and observes me as well.

Tsk these people treating me as such.

She's actually studying in the same University but on a different Major.

Mai was still zoning out when I finally heard the Professor dismissing the class. I immediately went beside Naru who was still seated.

"Hiya Naru!"

He just looked at her and went back to placing his things in his bag.

"Bad character as always. Is it to hard to acknowledge my presence?"

Then he stood up and went for the door. Although she knows he is usually like this she still felt a bit sad and something different hit on her chest.

I wonder why... Oh well, Naru is Naru.

Then she stopped mid-walk towards the door when another pain hit her, this time making her gasp. That caught Narus' attention.

"Mai!" he went beside her opting to help her but since she was a ghost he can just look she did not notice the attempt though as the pain was severe.

"Mai! What's wrong?" She heard him shout again as she continues to gasp for air.

"Gene! Come here quick!"

Gene? I thought he was on another building.

She then notice her fingers getting blurry.

What?

Then there's the pain again. She's dead right? Then why is she suffering from difficulty of breathing? This pain should not be felt too.

"Mai!" It was Gene.

"What's going on?"

Yuki?

She can't anymore. As she was blacking out she heard someone shout her name again.

Gene was leisurely reading a book in the cafeteria when someone disturb his rest.

"Hi Gene! May I join you?"

"Oh Yuki. Come, sit down. Is it also your free time?"

"Yeah, I have at least 2 hours before my next class. You?"

He looked at his watched. "I still have a little over an hour."

"Great! So maybe you can teach me more about this supernatural a bit more while we sit here."

"Sure -" then he looked alert.

"Gene? Are you ok?"

"Naru!" he stood up and immediately went.

"W- wait!"

A few minutes of running they came to a halt in a classroom where they saw Naru unable to do anything as Mai is kneeling down from Pain.

Then a few minutes later Mai suddenly disappeared!

"Mai!" Naru shouted as he looked everywhere and was about to go out when Gene caught him.

"Oliver! Breath!"

That is when Yuki noticed the temperature dropping and some of the things are already levitating a bit off the ground.

"Breath! You need to be in control."

A few minutes of calming down did it but the temperature is still a bit cold.

Was that Narus' ability? Yuki asked herself.

"What do you think happen?" Naru ask his brother.

"I'm also not sure. It is the first time I saw a ghost like that outside of exorcism. She'll be... back. She's a ghost remember?" Gene said as he pay his brothers shoulder.

Mai what happened to you? I hope you'll be back. Soon. Gene thought, sighing.
