Chapter 15

Two days had passed since Erika's discharge, and all seems to go back to normal.

No other accident or whatsoever is happening.

The twins are now in a bind and can't seem to understand why the sudden change. It's not that they wish for someone to get hurt, but girls were killed by a summoned demon and they don't know who summoned it.

Though after the ordeal in the hospital, Naru still informed the team what he and Mai had found out, but the latter still insist that Katherine is innocent.

The said narcissist is sitting with furrowed eyebrows inside their base while reading his notes, as if he had missed something important from it.

The other people, except from Lin and Mai, went out for lunch.

"Naru."

"Yes, Mai. " he said without looking at her.

She knows that he is mad at her right now for standing up for Katherine but it just feels right. She had no regrets.

Gulping, she started. "You mentioned that you had the same case back then, right? "

"What of it? "

"Isn't there some distinguishable factor to know who had summoned the demon?"

"I know I had mentioned that we had the same case before, but..." he stopped, remembering something.

"Lin, call the others."

Understanding his charge, he immediately dialed Gene's number.

"They deserved to die and live in hell! " the crazed woman that had summoned a demon to kill her husband and mistress had a visible pentagram mark near her collar bone.

They were now about to apprehend her for what she had done but she then was engulfed by a flame.

"Why!? You must obey me!" screaming the woman died after burning and the demon disappeared. Satisfied that it had served and obtained the soul of its master.

"Good! Look more seductive... That's it... Great! That ends our photo shoot!"

"Thank you for today! " she greeted.

She then went to her dressing room, checked the hallway discreetly before opening the door and entering it.

She pulled open a book that was safely hidden on her drawer under a pile of her clothes and smiled eerily.

"You will die tonight and no one will be in my way anymore.... KATHERINE! "

"And who says that we will let that happen.... Ms. Kishimoto. "

Startled. Her chair fell as she stood up looking behind her.

"What are you doing here? I'll call the guards! "

"The guards were already taken care of. " the other twin emerged with the rest of the team entering from her door with Yuki and Katherine.

"Erika... How could you do this? " said Katherine with tears forming in her eyes.

"What are you talking about? "

To answer her, Naru started. "That mark in your collar bone is the give away."

Gasping. Her hand immediately hid her mark. Then her eyes landed to her suppose next victim.

"Don't look at me like that you bitch! You all deserve to die! I should be the greatest and you all are in my way! "

"So killing those girls were your last resort? " Monk said with gritted teeth.

"YES! and to not be blamed, I staged my attack and making sure that someone sees Katherine with the book that I had asked her to bring in the hospital to point everything to her!"

So that's why we saw the book. Everything was planned by the wench!  Mai thought disgusted with the crazy girl in front of her.

"Let's stop this, please. I will not pursue modeling anymore just don't kill other people who you thought is getting in your way. Please? "

Then she laugh. "You cannot escape death anymore. It's here... "

The atmosphere then changed.

"Lin, now! " ordered Naru as the demon approached its supposed victim.

"Too late! " the team saw how the demon killed the poor girl in front of them, who is now drowning from her own blood.

The laughter of the hysteric girl continued but then she stopped when her whole body was engulfed with flames.

"W-what is going on?! Aaaahhhhh! " then her eyes went wide when she saw Katherine emerged from behind the long blonde guy, looking at her with sad eyes.

"H-how? "

"We used this. " Gene showed the burning girl a paper doll-like shape with Katherine's name on it. "And since the demons purpose is finished, he will now claim his price... Its Master's soul. "

"No! "

The girl then perished.

Katherine cried her heart out on the Monks shoulder.

The case is now over.

They are now back at home.

The team had now endorsed the case back to the police and they now have time to rest with ease.

"Naru, isn't there a way to save Erika as well? " Mai asked the narcissist who is now sitting on the sofa with a book in hand.

Is this his way of relaxing? Reading?  Really?  She thought.

He flipped a page. "She had sold her soul to a demon Mai, knowing or unknowingly. That is her price to pay and we have no way to stop it. "

Knowing that, she still felt bad.

"And Mai... "

"Yes. "

"You made me realize some things during the case, your intuition was right on track as well... for that, Thank you. "

He then stood up and went to his room leaving a blushing Mai.

A whistling sound was heard from the other twin. "Look who's blushing."
