Chapter 3

"NARU! RUN! "

"MAI! "

The brunette woke up with a jolt, perspiring heavily with a shallowed breathing.

She looked around. Frantic. When her eyes landed on the person she's looking for she gave out a sigh of relief.

Just a nightmare. Breathe.

After calming herself, she noticed that they are still driving to the location of the case.

The area outside is full of trees. It should have been a nice scenery if not for the gloomy aura that it emits.

After a few more hours, they had arrived.

What greeted them is a huge old western house. Stopping the car near the garden she awed at it, it has a big beautiful fountain and bushes full of blooming red roses.

The door of the house then opened. Out came a blond man and a sophisticated looking woman. Both seems to be of the same age of late 20's.

The twins immediately went out of the car and greeted the two.

"Takigawa-san, Matsuzaki-san, thank you for helping us again. " Gene said.

"Gene. You know you guys can always count on us, we're like you're family here. " the blond guy briefly hug Gene and turned towards Naru.

"Noll. How have you been? "

"Same as usual, Takigawa-san. Matzusaki-san. " he both gave a quick nod at the two adults

"My, my. You never change do you, Noll? " Matsuzaki-san commented.

Not oblige to answer at the woman's retort, Naru briefly look at my direction that went unnoticed by the two strangers and looked her way.

"Noll! You never told us you had found yourself a girlfriend! " the blond said in a mock hurt.

Gene snickered.

"So who is she? " asked the woman with a teasing smirk.

Startled that a few others can also see her, she shyly walked beside Naru and grabbed the hem of his black shirt.

"This is Mai. She is a ghost that is in our care. "

"A ghost!?"

"Well, Noll and I made it our mission to help her find out how she died so she can pass on. "

"Naru, who are they? " she asked.

"Naru? "

"That is the nickname she gave Noll, Matzusaki-san. "

"These couple here assist us on cases that we take on. Takigawa Housho is a monk, while Matzusaki Ayako is a shrine maiden, though they both don't look the part they are actually living their titles and is really helpful." Naru introduced.

"H-hi, I'm Mai. "

Out of nowhere she was engulf in a hug. "Ahhh, she's so cute! "

"Ayako, stop. Although we know she is dead I think she's suffocating on your beasty hug. "

The monk receive a hard smack on his head by his partner.

"Beasty, you say?!"

"Ok, enough of your usual LQ, where are the others?"

They lead us to the living room where some people are waiting.

I saw a girl with a Bob cut hair who wears kimono, if she wear alive she might have been of the same age. Beside sat a blond guy that looks younger than the twins. A tall young man who wears glasses stood by the window. And there sat on a love sit a woman with pink hair, she looks around the same age as Lin.

They all looked our way and greeted us.

From what I can see, these people are also well acquainted with the twins and Lin. A feeling of warmth sorrounds them.

She smiled.

Out of the corner of her eyes, the girl who wears kimono looks her way curiously. Hands covering her mouth.

"Noll. " she stated that got everyone's attention.

"Yes, Hara-san? "

"There is a girl spirit lingering around you. "

Everyone went silent and waited for his response. Well, except for the couple who already knows the brief story about her.

"Ow, is the famous medium jealous of some ghost? " teased the blond monk but the petite girl ignored her and keep looking her way which made her uncomfortable that she hid behind Naru.

Naru sighed .

"Who else can see her, besides the idiot couple.. " we can hear an annoyed retort from the shrine maiden on the background , "...and Hara-san? "

"I can't see her. You know that I'm no psychic. " answered the guy with glasses.

"Me too. Yasu and I are just your normal researcher of the team. " the pink haired person seconded.

"Thank you for the enlightenment, Madoka. " the said person grinned and shrugged her shoulders. Yasu snickering on the background.

"John? " he asked the other blond guy in the room.

"Well, I can only feel a presence is with us and that 'she' means no harm" the soft spoken blond replied.

Naru nodded and introduced her as if all of them can see her.

"This is Mai. She is a ghost that my brother and I are helping to let her pass on. Be reminded that she knows nothing of her past and we are to help her. "
