After joining up with the Spectres, Stain and his Acolytes prepare their next move. At the same time, Kanan keeps a close eye on Stain. Kanan's feelings were shared by the rest of the Spectres. As Stain and his Acolytes meditated, Kanan met with the rest of the Spectres in the cockpit.
Hera: How are our....new guests?
Kanan: Stain and his Acolytes are meditating.
Sabine: Something's off about those guys.
Kanan: Your instincts are spot on. Those three have fallen to the Dark Side.
Zeb: Great. We've got three Dark Siders on the ship. We might as well invite the Inquisitors on board.
Kanan: They're not like the Inquisitors. At least that's what they say.
Kanan then proceeds to tell the Spectres about who Stain once was. He also tells them of Stain's ideology and how fanatical he was in following it. Upon hearing all this, everyone was stunned.
Zeb: Karabast.....
Hera: Is it really a good idea to keep them here? They're dangerous.
Kanan: I don't like this anymore than you do, but we share a common enemy.
Ezra: What's to stop them from turning on us once they get what they want?
Kanan: If they wanted to kill us, they would've done so already. They also wouldn't have gone through the trouble of helping us with Jerec.
It was clear to Kanan that the rest of the Spectres were hesitant to have Stain and his Acolytes remain on the ship. Their encounters with the Inquisitors only gave merit to those thoughts. However, it was also clear to Kanan that while Stain and his Acolytes had fallen to the Dark Side, they didn't seem to relish in murder. At the same time, Kanan knew that Stain could be an invaluable ally in the fight against Jerec.
Kanan: Jerec will be coming after us. Stain was once his apprentice and he clearly has an axe to grind. I hate to say this, but I think we need to work with them to take Jerec down.
As Kanan said this, Chopper began beeping grumpily in response.
Zeb: I agree with Chopper. This is insane. We currently have three nutjobs who have fallen to the Dark Side and could kill us any minute and you want us to work with them? You must've hit your head.
Sabine: I agree. I don't like this.
The only one who didn't give a response were Hera and Ezra who trusted Kanan's judgement despite their own personal opinions on the matter. Meanwhile in cargo hold, Stain along with Jinx and O-Mer had finished meditating.
Jinx: What is our next move, Stain?
Stain: Our work must continue. Jerec will hunt us and these Rebels. As long as we remain with them, he will come to us.
O-Mer: Do you think the Rebels will stand in our way?
Stain: It does not matter. All that matters is the mission. Jerec must be purged for his crimes. All False Jedi must be purged so that the Force may be purified. All who stand in our way shall die.
As Stain said this, Kanan entered the room.
Kanan: I've talked with my crew about whether or not to let you remain here. For now, we'll allow you to aid us in stopping Jerec. But let's get one thing straight. We will not resort to your tactics. Understand?
Stain: I will do whatever it takes for the sake of the mission. Jerec is a taint on the Force. A taint that must be purged. All like him must die.
Kanan: What happened to you during Order 66?
Stain: My eyes were opened. They were opened to the foul corruption that infested our great order. Now the Jedi are few in numbers and even fewer who remain pure. I am the necessary evil that purges the fakes from the Galaxy. Only through their deaths will the Jedi Order rise from it's ashes.
Kanan: Where do I fall in? Where does Ezra?
Stain was silent upon hearing Kanan's question. He took a moment to recall the actions of both Kanan and Ezra. He was unable to form a conclusive opinion.
Stain: That remains to be seen. As of now, you appear to be a True Jedi. But time will tell if you and your....apprentice are truly Jedi worthy of the title.
Kanan was silent as he left Stain alone with his Acolytes. As Kanan left, Stain turned to Jinx and O-Mer.
Stain: Prepare yourself for the days to come, Acolytes. My former Master will not go gently into the night. He will be unlike the other Fakes you have slain. Be mindful and remember your training.
Jinx and O-Mer nodded their heads as they prepared themselves to work with the Spectres so that they may kill Jerec. Meanwhile on the Vengeance Star Destroyer which was stationed above Lothal, Jerec enters his private chambers. He then answers a call from his holoterminal which projects a holoprojection of Darth Vader. Jerec kneels before the Dark Lord.
Darth Vader(Holoprojection): How fares your mission, High Inquisitor?
Jerec: There have been some...minor complications, but I can assure you that the Jedi here will be dealt with swiftly.
Darth Vader(Holoprojection): Let us hope you do not make the same mistakes as your predecessors.
Jerec: I will not fail you, Lord Vader.
With that, the called ended. In that moment, Jerec dedicated himself to not only hunting the Jedi and Rebels on Lothal, but to also hunt down his former apprentice.
