Chapter XVI - Frontal Assault

After learning of the Power Guard Project, the Spectres made their way to the weapons factory where the Power Guard Project was being held. Once they reached the weapons factory, Hera activated the Ghost's cloaking device. 

Kanan: Have they spotted us?

Hera: No. We're well out of range of their scanners. 

Zeb: So what's the plan? Bust in and crack some heads?

Hera: Not an option. If half of what I heard about the Power Guard Project is true, then charging in like that wouldn't be a good idea. We don't even know how far the Empire has gone with the project. 

Kanan: Meaning they might have a few Power Guards at their disposal. Not to mention That Inquisitor might be there was well as countless Stormtroopers.

As Kanan said that, Chopper beeped his response in a sarcastic and grumpy tone. 

Zeb: For once, I'm with the droid. 

Sabine: How about we sneak in?

Kanan: It's possible that Jerec knows we're coming. He might have patrols scouting the facility at all times. 

Ezra: So what's the plan?

???: Send us in.

Kanan and the others turned around to see Stain along with Jinx and O-Mer in the room. 

Kanan: What are you talking about?

Stain: Send us in. We will attack the Imperials and draw their attention on us. We will kill any who stand in our way and buy you time to get into the facility. 

Upon hearing this, the Spectres became hesitant, knowing that Stain would slaughter any Imperial without mercy or remorse. However, they had few options. 

Stain: You know what must be done. My old master is in that factory. I can sense him. 

Ezra: I can't believe I'm saying this, but it might work. 

Zeb: I say let them loose on those bucketheads. I'm tempted to join in. 

Kanan: I don't like it, but it's our best chance. 

Stain: It is the will of the Force, Kanan Jarrus. The Force has granted me the opportunity to purge the traitor Jerec. 

Kanan: All right, once Stain and his Acolytes attack, we'll use the diversion to get inside the base. 

With that, the Spectres had set the plan in motion. Meanwhile outside the weapons factory, a squadron of Stormtroopers were guarding the entrance to the weapons facility. As they kept watch, they noticed three hooded figures approaching the entrance. The Stormtroopers readied their blasters and aimed them at the hooded figures. 

Stormtrooper: Hey! You're not allowed to be here! This is a restricted area! Turn back or we will open fire!

As the hooded figures stopped, they removed their hoods, revealing them to be Stain and his Acolytes. Stain looked upon the Stormtroopers with indifference in his eyes. 

Stain: They stand in the way of our target. They are to be shown no mercy. 

Jinx and O-Mer nodded their heads as they readied their Lightsabers. They stayed behind as Stain walked ahead. 

Stormtrooper: Stop right there! This is your last chance! Turn back or we will open fire!

Without hesitation, Stain pulled out his Lightsabers and ignited their unstable crimson blades. He then grips two of the Stormtroopers with the Force and yanks them towards him. He then impales both of them with his Lightsabers. Jinx and O-Mer ignited their Lightsabers and killed off the remaining Stormtroopers.

Stain: Very good, Acolytes. Let us move forward.

With that, Stain along with Jinx and O-Mer moved on. They approached the entrance which was sealed. Stain then grips the door with Force and tears it open. This alerts all the Stormtroopers in the facility. 

Stormtrooper: Intruders! Open fire!

Stain led the charge as he began to cut down any Stormtroopers that crossed his path. Jinx and O-Mer soon joined Stain as the Stormtroopers open fired on them. 

Stain: SHOW NO MERCY, ACOLYTES! 

Stain and his Acolytes attacked the facility with ruthless aggression. As the Stormtroopers attempt to kill Stain and his Acolytes, the Spectres took advantage of the opportunity granted to them by the Dark Jedi. Meanwhile, Jerec was overseeing the final stages of the Power Guard Project. The lead Imperial scientist presented several Power Guards to Jerec. Jerec walked over to the Power Guards and was impressed by what he saw. 

Jerec: Impressive. Most Impressive. 

Imperial Scientist: I have already installed the Inhibitor Chips onto these Power Guards. They will now faithfully serve the Empire without question. 

Jerec: I hope these Power Guards live up to your expectations. Lord Vader will arrive soon to personally inspect the Power Guards. 

Upon hearing this, the Imperial scientist becomes anxious. He has heard stories of Darth Vader's powers of persuasion as well as his low tolerance for failure. He knew that any kind of failure could end in his death. Suddenly, an Imperial officer enters the room. 

Imperial Officer: High Inquisitor! The facility is under attack! Intruders have breeched the facility! 

Upon hearing this, Jerec felt the presence of his former apprentice. A smile fell on his face as he turned to the Imperial scientist. 

Jerec: Deploy the Power Guards. It's time we see what they're capable of. 

In that moment, Jerec saw many opportunities. He would use the Power Guards to eliminate his former apprentice. But Jerec also knew that he would most likely have to confront Stain. As for Stain, he prepared himself to face his former master with the intention of killing him. Jerec was finally within Stain's grasp. As the Rebels raided the weapons factory unopposed, the shadow of the Dark Side would loom large.
