Chapter XIX - Darth Vader

After killing Jerec, Stain found himself face to face with Darth Vader. Stain had heard stories about Darth Vader. He had heard the stories of how Darth Vader hunted down and killed any Jedi who survived the Jedi Purge. As Darth Vader's mechanical breathing echoed across the room, Stain glared at the Sith Lord with anger and fury in his eyes. 

Darth Vader: So you are the Jedi Killer I've heard so much about. The Dark Side is strong with you.

As Darth Vader said this, Stain remained silent. He was still exhausted after his fight with Jerec. For years since he began his crusade, there were three targets that Stain wished to kill. The first was Emperor Palpatine who orchestrated the downfall of the Jedi. The second was Anakin Skywalker who had led the attack on the Jedi Temple. The third was Darth Vader who appeared shortly after the rise of the Empire. But as Stain glared at one of his longtime targets, Stain noticed something off about Vader. He sensed a familiar presence from the Sith Lord. Stain was quick to recall that Skywalker disappeared around the same time Darth Vader first appeared. Stain also recalled meeting Anakin Skywalker on many occasions during his time as a Jedi. His presence was unmistakable. In that moment, Stain had deduced Darth Vader's identity. 

Stain: Skywalker....

As Stain uttered that name, Darth Vader fell silent. Without saying a word, Darth Vader ignited his Lightsaber.

Darth Vader: Anakin Skywalker is dead. He was weak. 

Stain: Of that we can agree, Darksider. I have long waited for this moment, Skywalker. Of all the false Jedi I have sought, it was you that I wished to kill the most. I have waited for this moment for a long time. 

Darth Vader: Most impressive. But to kill me, you must now face me. There is no escape. 

Stain: Gladly. Killer of younglings. Betrayer of friends. Destroyer of the Jedi to whom you claimed allegiance. Animal. I have longed for this day. You are everything that I wish to purge. I have killed many false Jedi, many of which were your Inquisitors. Every one I kill purifies the Force. Once I kill you, I will hunt your master and kill him too. And when you are both dead and your Empire of heretics has burned to the ground, I will hunt down all the other false Jedi and purge them from the Galaxy. When their ilk has been purged, the Force shall finally be cleansed....

As Stain said that, he ignited his two unstable red Lightsabers and assumed a combat stance. This was the moment Stain was waiting for. Despite being exhausted from his duel with Jerec, Stain would not allow the opportunity to kill one of the perpetrators of the Jedi Purge to slip past him. Darth Vader stood motionless as he raised his crimson Lightsaber to his chest. 

Stain: Now you will die!

Without hesitation, Stain lunged at Darth Vader and attacked him with his Lightsabers. As Stain attacked him with lightning fast attacks, Darth Vader maintained a strong defense. After the initial attack, Darth Vader then broke through Stain's defenses and gripped him with Force Choke. As Stain struggled to breathe, Darth Vader loomed over the Dark Jedi. 

Darth Vader: Submit. 

Stain: N....never!

Darth Vader: Then you will die. 

As Darth Vader tightened his grip, Stain lets out a powerful Force Repulse which frees him from the Sith Lord's grip. Seizing the opportunity, Stain uses the Force to grip several large pieces of debris at began to throw them at Vader. Vader was able to block and deflect the debris with ease. Stain then goes for an overhead slash, but Darth Vader grips him with the Force and began thrashing Stain around the building. It was at this moment that Stain quickly realized just how powerful Darth Vader was. Despite this, Stain refused to give up. As Darth Vader threw Stain against a wall, the Sith Lord slowly approached him. 

Darth Vader: Your emotions reveal you, Stendhal. You would've made a fine Inquisitor. 

Stain: I....am...Stain......

Darth Vader: You have betrayed everything that the Jedi stood for. While you claim yourself to be a righteous servant of the Force, you are merely a hypocrite. 

Stain: I use the darkness....to serve the Light....you are the traitor....

As Stain struggled to get up, Darth Vader lifts Stain up with the Force and begins to strangle him. Stain struggled to breathe as he attempts to break free from the Sith Lord's grip to no avail. Despite all of this, Stain remained resolute in his cause. 

Stain: By the right of the Jedi, by the will of the Force, I hereby sentence you, Anakin Skywalker.....to death for your crimes against the Force.

As Stain said this, Darth Vader remained silent as he maintained his grip on Stain. Despite facing certain death, Stain remained defiant. 

Stain: By the right of the Jedi, by the will of the Force, I hereby sentence you, Anakin Skywalker.....to death for your crimes against the Force.

Darth Vader: No. 

As Darth Vader said that, he pulled Stain towards him and impaled the Dark Jedi's chest with his Lightsaber. Stain gasped as he found himself unable to move. Darth Vader then deactivated his Lightsaber as Stain collapsed to the floor. As Stain lay on the floor, his life began to flash before his eyes. It seemed in that moment that Stain would die at the hands of Darth Vader. But the Force still had plans for Stain.
