Chapter XVII - The Power Guard

As the Dark Jedi and the Spectres assaulted the Imperial weapons factory, Stain and his Acolytes continued carving a path of destruction throughout the factory. The Stormtroopers stood no chance as Stain led Jinx and O-Mer in their search for Jerec. 

Stain: YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM ME, JEREC! THE FORCE MUST BE CLEANSED! YOUR FILTH MUST BE PURGED! 

Stain unleashes his anger and rage as he cuts down the Stormtroopers without mercy or remorse. Meanwhile, the Spectres infiltrated the factory. Taking the advantage given to them by the Dark Jedi, the Spectres managed to avoid most of the Imperials guarding the base. They could hear the sound of battle occurring throughout the factory. 

Zeb: Looks like those crazies are having a blast. 

Hera: Let's focus on the mission at hand, Zeb. Stain and his allies may be keeping the Imperials occupied, it doesn't mean we're in the clear. 

Kanan: Hera's right. This facility is still crawling with Stormtroopers, not to mention the Power Guards that the Imperials may have created. 

Sabine: Let's just hope they didn't get the chance to make any of these Power Guards. 

With that, the Spectres continued moving through the factory, using the chaos created by Stain and his Acolytes to infiltrate the factory. Meanwhile, Jerec had deployed the Power Guards to deal with Stain and his Acolytes. Soon enough, Stain and his Acolytes were confronted by several Power Guards. The Power Guards showed no emotion as they raised their Electrostaffs. Stain simply turned to his Acolytes.

Stain: Show no mercy.

Following Stain's lead, Jinx and O-Mer attacked the Power Guards with their Lightsabers. The Power Guards proved to be more than a match for the Dark Jedi. Stain cuts one Power Guard in half with one Lightsaber and decapitates another Power Guard with the other. 

Stain: You mindless drones will not stop me from doing what needs to be done!

It was in that moment that his anger took hold of Stain as he unleashed it on the Power Guards. Despite the power displayed by the Power Guards, Stain overwhelmed the Power Guards. As Stain and his Acolytes stood before the dismembered bodies of the Power Guards, Stain rallied his Acolytes. 

Stain: He is close. I can sense him. 

Jinx: We are ready, master. 

Stain: He will not escape us this time. 

O-Mer: We will not fail you, master. 

With that, Stain and his Acolytes continued searching the weapons factory for Jerec. Meanwhile, the Spectres eventually reached the control station of the weapons factory. 

Hera: That must be the control station. If we can disable the control station, we can shut down the Power Guard Project. 

Ezra: Then what are we waiting for? Let's....

Before Ezra could finish his sentence, he was attacked by a Power Guard. Soon enough, a group of Power Guards swarmed the Spectres. 

Zeb: Karabast! 

Sabine: Looks like they managed to crank out a few Power Guards! 

Kanan: Hera, we'll keep the Power Guards occupied! You and Chopper shut down the control station! 

Hera: Got it! Let's go Chopper!

Hera and Chopper made their way to the main terminal while the rest of the Spectres fought against the Power Guards. An intense fight broke out between the Rebels and the Power Guards. The Spectres held their ground to buy Hera and Chopper time to shut down the control station. During the fight, Kanan managed to cut down a Power Guard. 

Kanan: Sabine! Toss some grenades! 

Sabine: Got it! Everyone hit the deck!

Sabine then tosses several grenades towards the Power Guards. The explosion kills some of the Power Guards, but the remaining Power Guards begin to overwhelm the Spectres. Soon enough, Hera and Chopper were able to disable the control station. However, the remaining Power Guards were able to overwhelm the Rebels. It wasn't long before Jerec stands before them along with the Imperial scientists.

Jerec: A marvelous display from my Power Guards, wouldn't you think?

Hera: You won't be making anymore Power Guards. 

Jerec: I will admit that this will set back the project considerably, but I have faith that we will overcome. 

As Jerec had the Spectres at his mercy, the Imperial scientists began to choke on the ground. It wasn't long before they were all killed. As the Imperial scientists were killed, Stain and his Acolytes revealed themselves. Jerec nodded at the remaining Power Guards to kill Stain, but Stain unleashes his anger and fury on the Power Guards, killing them all one by one. Soon enough, all that remained were Jerec as well as the Spectres. 

Jerec: How disappointing. 

Stain: Kanan Jarrus. Your part in this is over. Take your allies and leave. Our alliance is over. 

Kanan: We're not done here....

Stain: You are. The Power Guard Project has been shut down. All that remains is my former master. 

Soon enough, the sound of TIE Fighters was heard. Left with no choice, the Spectres were forced to leave and make their escape, leaving Jerec alone with Stain and his Acolytes. 

Jerec: You have made a fatal error, my apprentice. You and your acolytes. 

Stain: I am no longer your apprentice. Your continued existence is an affront to the Force. By the right of the Jedi, by the will of the Force, I hereby sentence you, Jerec to death for your crimes against the Force.

In that moment, Stain and his Acolytes prepared to duel against Jerec. Stain now had the opportunity to strike down his former Master in the name of his mission.
