Brand New Beginning

chapter six

I sighed then followed him down the stairs. We all walked into the kitchen and sat in a random seat. I was between Charlie and Edward. We all ate quietly and Edward kept giving me strange glances. I silenly scooted closer to Charlie. I havn't had pizza in so long so I enjoyed every bite. When we were all done Bella and I cleared the table and washed the dishes. Edward didn't like that but it was time for him to leave.

Charlie went to the living room to watch a game, so it was just me and Bella. She washed and I dried. This silence went on the whole time. Once we were done she went to her room and I didn't know where to go. I walked to the living room and sat in the armchair. Charlie smiled at me then turned back to the TV. The game was so boring that i actually started falling asleep. "Um Charlie?" I asked. He turned toward me "Could I go explore the town for a bit? I promise to be home before dark" I said. He looked uncomfortable for a minute but then relaxed. "Yea sure" he said getting up, "Heres my number if you get lost" he gave me a wrinkled piece of paper with numbers on it.

I nodded and headed out the door. When I stepped out the first thing I did was put the paper in my back pocket. I walked towards the woods then the memory of the wolves came back. I walked back to the other side of the road. I didn't walk very fast, I walked at a normal pace. Enjoying the scenery and the smells of the forest. 

I kept walking till I entered the town. A lot of people were out getting groceries or getting their hair or nails done. I even saw a group of teenage people chatting around a dinner. One of the guys spotted me and winked. I rolled my eyes and kept walking. "Hey!" I turn around to see the guy running towards me. Now that I saw him up close I realized he was kind of cute. He had short brown hair that curled a little bit in the front and dark brown eyes. His face had that boyish look but pulled that off.  

"Hey haven't seen you around. New in town?" He asked. I nodded trying to walk away again. "Well hey my name is Todd. What's your name?" He said leaning against the telephone pole. I looked up at him "Nicollete" I said then leaned on one foot. Hey smiled. He had nice teeth. I smiled back showing off my perfect white teeth, there are some advantages being half vampire. 

"Me and the rest of the group are going to go down to the beach. Want to come with us?" He asked casually standing up straight. I thought about, I think Charlie won't mind. "Sure, why not" I smiled. He gestured me over to his friends. The guys looked happy I was walking over to them but the girls looked upset. The girls gave me a nasty look. I glared at them right back. No one is going to push me around.
