Chapter Twenty Four

The next day Emmett and Jasper were playing video games in the living room and the everyone else was watching. I walked around the kitchen and looked at the calendar, we only had about six more days till the fight. A cold chill ran through me, I shook it off and opened the fridge and grabbed the bowl of strawberries Esme always has ready for me. "Why do you like strawberries so much?" Rosalie asked coming into the kitchen. I shrugged, "I don't know they just taste really good" I said. I ate the rest of the bowl and sat in the living room with everyone. "Oh hey Bella" I said sitting next to her and Edward. "Hey Nicollete how are you?" "Well my dad is on the loose, there's an army of vampires coming to attack in about six days but other than that everything is going great" I said leaning back. She started laughing, "Ok so not so good but how are you and Seth?" I smiled, "We are doing good" I said. My mind started to drift, I wonder where he is going to fight. I will protect him like I know he would protect me. I thought about the four vampires that attacked Emily and the others. Are they really that desperate? At least they don't know we have wolves, since we killed the messengers. "Damn!" I look at the screen and see that Jasper won. We started laughing, "Good job Jasper" Alice said hugging Jasper when he got up and sat next to her. "It's ok sweetie you will beat him next time" Rose said to Emmett who was glaring at the screen.

I heard a knock on the door, "That's for you" Edward said looking at me. I jumped off the sofa and ran to the door. I opened the door and saw Seth leaning on the door frame. "Hey" he said smiling, "Hey" I replied putting a piece of hair behind my ear. "Well I wanted to know if you would want to go to Emily's house for lunch?" I looked over at Rose and Emmett "Can I go?" Emmett looked at Rose, "Ok but be back for dinner" She said. "Ok!" I jumped out the door and followed Seth down the stairs. "So why the sudden invitation?" I asked him while we walked over to Emily's house. "Well I wanted to see you again" he said. I rolled my eyes, "You see me everyday" I punched him lightly in the arm. He started laughing, "Yes but also Emily wants to see you. She really likes you" He said holding my hand. I liked Emily too, she was nice and a great person to be around. "Also Sam will be there but don't worry, ever since you saved Emily he doesn't think anything bad about you anymore" he said. I hope not, I don't want him on my bad side. "I hope he likes me" I said. He started chuckling, "Of course he likes you, you saved Emily from dying" I shuddered at the memory of them being held captive. "Do you know where you are going to fight?" I asked him. He looked down, "Sam wants me to stay out of the fight," he clenched his fist, "I can fight they just won't let me." I stopped us and held both of his hands, "They just don't want you to get hurt," I said trying to look him in the eye, "I am also kind of glad you aren't fighting. I don't know what I would do if you got hurt" I said looking away from him. "I won't get hurt" He said letting go of my hand and lifting my head so we are looking at each other. "I would die if you died in the fight. Could you help guard Bella with me? So at least we can be together" he said. I stared at him for a long time before making a decision, "I am sorry Seth but I need to fight with everyone else." He sighed and nodded, I quickly pecked him on the lips and gave him a small smile. "Hey don't worry I will be fine and I will be much more at ease if you are away from the fight" I said.

The thought of him fighting and getting hurt made my stomach turn. I needed to fight , I needed to take down my father and help protect my family in the fight. "You are needed to help Edward and Bella, I am needed to help my family" I said I kissed him quickly and buried my face in his chest and wrapped my arms around him. He wrapped his arms around me and placed his head on mine, "I will look for you after the fight" he said. "I will look for you as well" I said and took a step back. "Emily is waiting for us" I said and took his hand in mine and started walking. We walked the rest of the way in silence, he opened the door to Emily's house and I nearly got tackled by the boys. "Hey short stuff where you been?" I laughed and hugged Jared, "Hey guys" I gave Embry a hug as well. The rest of the pack was there but they usually kept a distance. I waved high and they did the same, Paul didn't seem to like me but from what I hear he is a hot head. I waved to Seth and walked into the kitchen to find Emily making food and Sam leaning on the counter admiring her and making her laugh. I coughed, they turned around and I saw Emily's smile grow. "Nicollete!" she ran up and hugged me, I hugged her back and looked over at Sam. He smiled and waved, I waved back. Emily let me go and went back to her pot. "It is so nice to see you again dear" she said while placing something in the oven. "It is nice to see you too" I replied going over to the other side of the kitchen.
