Brand New Beginning

Chapter Nineteen

        We walked in silence for a long time. I didn't know what to say, it was weird seeing Todd appear out of no where. And for him to act that was was way out of line, I snuck a look up at Seth and saw that he just had a sad look on him. "I'm sorry about that" I said looking down, he shook his head. "It wasn't your fault" he said squeezing my hand. I squeezed his hand back and kept walking, "So how long till we reach the bonfire?" I asked looking around for any sign of a fire. "Just over that hill" he said smiling, we walked up the hill and when were at the top I saw a fire and a lot of boys around it. As we got closer I realized there were three girls there and Bella was one of them. I waved at Bella, I didn't know who the guy next to her as though so I just nodded. He did the same and came over and clapped Seth on the back. "Bella this is Seth he is the newest member of the pack" he said ruffling his hair I giggled and scooted aside. "I may be the newest but I am faster, smarter and good looking" he said winking in my direction. I blushed and sat next to Bella. "Hey I didn't know you were going to be here too" she said. "Seth invited me today" I said, she nodded and looked at the fire. Seth and the boy came over and sat with us, Seth next to me and the guy next to Bella. "Hey I'm Jacob" He said extending his hand, I shook it, "Nicollete" I said. He smiled, "Yea I know who you are. Seth won't shut up about you," he said, I blushed and saw Seth blushing, "He says you're so beautiful...". "Hey you hungry?" Seth said trying to distract me, but everyone was smiling and elbowing him. "Yea remeber what you said? He said that the world isn't worth living in if you're not there" Jared said throwing himself on the ground. "Yea and that you out shine the sun on a bright summers day" Embry said dramatically fanning himself. Everyone was laughing and Seth looked so embarrassed, I giggled and blushed. "Alright you can shut up now" Seth said chuckling nervously, I grabbed his hand and ran my thumb over his hand.

       "Are you sure I can tell her about what you thought about what you wanted you wanted to do when she was sitting in your lap.." "Hey you hungry!" He said jumping up and going for the food while knocking over Jared and Embry on the way. We all started laughing, suddenly the man in the wheelchair cleared his voice and everyone was instantly quiet. I looked at everyone and saw that their faces were somber and were paying attention to him. "That's Billy" Seth whispered as he sat next to me, he gave me a sprite and a burger. I nodded and looked at Billy. Billy started talking about how the tribe came to be and how they started turning into wolves, I was already finished with my second cheeseburger when he started talking about my kind. "We protected our tribe from everything, but we were prepared for what was coming. Vampires attacked our tribe" I heard a low growl come from the people around the bonfire. I fidgeted in my seat and looked around, I saw some of the older people give me strange looks. I suddenly felt like like I wasn't wanted, I silently scooted back until I was off the log and using my vampire speed ran away from the bonfire. I stopped on the top of the hill and looked down at the bonfire, I saw Bella's puzzled look and saw Seth searching for me. I turned away and walked down the hill, "Nicollete wait!" I whipped around and saw Seth running down the hill towards me. "I'm sorry Seth but I don't think it was right for me to be there" I said as he stopped in front of me. I turned around and started walking away, "Well I have heard the stories so we can spend the rest of the night together" he said catching up to me and grabbing my hand. I smiled and walked down the shore.

The moon was high above the sky and the stars were shining bright. "Its getting late" I said, he nodded, "Yea it is." We looked at each other and smiled, I started running ahead of him at Vampire speed. I heard him change into a wolf and was right on my tail, I laughed and tried doing zig zags while he tried to tag me. He kept up with me, and nudged me with his nose, I laughed and turned around. He nudged me with his nose lifting me into the air. I picked up his nose and I jumped in the air, I did flips and then landed back on his nose. We did that a couple times but on the last jump I landed wrong and fell on the ground. I landed with a grunt layed on my back. Seth whimpered and nidged me with his nose, "I'm fine I just can't move" I said. He whimpered again and ran behind a tree, I tried getting up but my back kind of hurt. "Nicollete? Why can't you move?" I grunted and stretched upwards. "No don't move" but then my back cracked and both our eyes widened. "Nicollete?" Seth said kneeling next to me, I slowly let my body go and realized it didn't hurt anymore, thank goodness for my fast healing. I sighed, "I'm fine I just need to pop it" I raised my arms towards him. He picked me up and set me on my feet, I started getting dizzy and nearly fell over. Seth caught me, "Are you sure your ok?" he asked. I nodded, "Yea I just need to sit down for a bit" I said sitting down. He nodded and sat next to me by the tree, I leaned my head back. "I'm ok I just need to not move for a little bit" I said smiling. "Still I hate to see you hurt" He said putting his arm around me. I snugged into him and rested my head on his shoulder. We sat like that for a long time, the sound of the forest was soothing. "We should go" I said getting up, Seth tried to help me up but I shook it off. "I'm fine" I said looking around the forest. "Alright" he said, "we should get you back to the Cullens house. They are probably wondering where you are." I nodded, he held my hand and lead me in the direction of the Cullens house.
