Kageyama was staring at Hinata again.
He couldn't figure out what it was that was bringing his attention to his best friend so much, but it was strange. Stange, but not awful.
Normally during classes, Kageyama would do his best to scribble some kind of notes on the side of the worksheet so he'd have something to reference, (and to try and prove his superiority to Hinata), but today his pen wouldn't write anything of the sort.
It did, however, doodle random pictures of Hinata with his expert drawing skills, and his name a few times around the page and - no, no, no, no. This was a worksheet, Kageyama remembered, and he'd have to turn it in.
Kageyama didn't write with pencils because writing with pencils left the idea of mistakes. (Why else would there be an eraser?) And while Kageyama liked to say he didn't make mistakes, his teacher was going to see this paper.
In a panic, just before the teacher came by to pick up his paper, he drew a quick line through Hinata's name that didn't hide much.
Kageyama thanked all things when the teacher made no comment, just raising her eyebrow before continuing to pick up papers from the students behind him.
The teacher, however, had definitely seen it. She'd also been a teacher for long enough to tell what was happening, and by the similar doodles on Hinata's page it would be totally lame to let it slide.
"Good morning, kids," She greeted the following morning, "I think we're due for a new seating chart, don't you think?"
Kageyama only yawned, not seeing the big deal until the teacher started naming off seats and pointing directions for students to move to. "Kageyama, you're in the second row all the way to the left with Hinata, behind you will be..."
It didn't have reason why his heart skipped a few beats and he was so excited to be seated next to Hinata, considering they've sat together before and he didn't really care.
When he'd settled into his new spot next to Hinata, his heart was beating at a much faster pace than before and he felt something in his stomach. He felt like he was going to throw up, almost, and it was unpleasantly pleasantly overwhelming."Hey, Kageyama-kun!" Hinata greeted with his usual enthusiasm, giving Kageyama a quick side hug. "Cool that we're sitting next to each other!"
Kageyama nodded, swallowing gently as he tidied his things on his side of the desk. "Yeah.."
"You look sick." Hinata's hand reached for Kageyama's forehead, but he leaned back enough to avoid the touch."I'm not sick. I've told you before - I don't get sick."
Hinata rolled his eyes, frowning as he placed his palm against his friend's forehead. "Everyone gets sick. Graham crackers, Kageyama, you're pretty hot."
Kageyama's brain intentionally skipped over the part about graham crackers, focusing in on the 'Kageyama, you're pretty hot' bit maybe a little more than it should've. "You too?"
HInata blinked at Kageyama. "What? No, like your forehead is hot. You're burning up."
"...right. Sorry."
Thankfully, Hinata laughed it off in time for the teacher to begin her lesson. The teacher, (who certainly hadn't missed their little exchange), had a confident smirk on her lips as she started explaining something about conversion? Energy? Some kind of law, but honestly, Kageyama wasn't paying attention.Within minutes of starting the lesson, his mind had wandered to his best friend again. He played with the pencil between his fingers, twirling it mindlessly as he aimlessly daydreamed, completely lost in it.

Summer was approaching, the rain picking up and the temperatures rising slowly.
Kageyama didn't know where he was, but he didn't question it. His head fell back against the fresh spring grass, and he sighed at the pleasant heat coming from the sun above him.
