Third Person POV

A day had passed since Jim had dropped Holly off at Wayne Manor and with the amount of work he had been doing to try and find Hargrove, Jim hadn't had a chance to call in and check on her, something he felt guilty about but he knew that she wouldn't mind. But the pressure of finding Ian Hargrove was increasing with every passing hour after it was suspected Hargrove was involved in another bombing so Harvey and Jim decided it was time to fill Essen in on what they knew.

They found the Captain just as she entered the back entrance of the precinct, coffee in one hand, paperwork, and the mornings newspaper in the other.

"This was bad enough when it was just a prison escape. Now we got five dead security guards, and the press is calling Hargrove an urban terrorist," Essen said as they entered the main precinct hall. "Did you get anything from the bombing site?"

"Forensics is still looking into it, but the entire office was destroyed," Harvey answered.

"Including all the security footage," Jim added.

"Of course it was," Essen sighed.

"We do know that Hargrove and his guys made off with a compound called HMX," Harvey told Essen, as they stopped outside of her office. She turned and looked at the two detectives, waiting for them to elaborate on what they meant.

"It's military grade. Ten times more powerful than C4," Jim explained.

"Nasty stuff," Harvey muttered.

"Using explosives to steal explosives. What's that about?" Essen asked.

"Trading up," Jim suggested. "Must be another target in mind that's difficult to crack."

"You know what I'm gonna say. So go. Do it," Essen instructed them before going into her office and shutting the door.

Just as Jim was about to get to work along with Harvey, his phone rang.

"This is Gordon," Jim answered the phone.

"Yes, detective. It's Alfred," Alfred replied.

"Alfred. Is everything alright? Is Holly ok? What about Selina?" Jim asked, moving to the side of the precinct to prevent anyone from eavesdropping.

"Miss Holly is absolutely fine; a delight to have here. And as for Miss Kyle, well, she's safe," Alfred said.

"But?" Jim encouraged, sensing that something was up.

"But I'm afraid, detective, this isn't going to work out," Alfred told him. "She's a tough nut, this one."

"Well, look, we need her help if we have any chance at catching the Waynes' killer. So just hold on to her for now. I'll be out to check on her as soon as I can," Jim said.

"We shall patiently await your arrival, detective," Alfred answered, a sliver of sarcasm in his voice.

Jim sighed before he hung up the phone. Once again, he had another issue to deal with.

For the next hour, Jim was sat at his desk, sorting through any files that could indicate who had taken Hargrove and was using his expertise to wreak havoc. To go along with their research was a box of files sent over from Blackgate. But when they came up empty, Harvey found yet another box but this time it had something a little different.

"Hargrove's contacts and phone records from before he went to Blackgate," Harvey said, dropping the large box on Jim's desk.

"Oh," Jim nodded, taking the handful of files from Harvey.
