Holly POV
Knowing that I was probably safe from the child-snatchers now, I was allowed to return to school as long as I was dropped off and picked up by someone that dad could trust. Today he had dropped me off and then he would pick me up as we were going to Wayne Manor at teatime.
So, after my little walk out problem the other day, most of the school had been talking about it and I could hear the gossip through the halls as I tried to get to my classes. Luckily for me I sat at the back in most of them and was away from most peering eyes.
Break time was a different story. Sure, I never sat with anyone at lunch before but now even if I wanted to, no one else would. This fact was proven as I sat there on the ledge of the school fountain, eating my food.
"You Holly Gordan?" An unfamiliar female voice said to me.
I looked up and saw three of the most popular girls standing there. The girl in the middle had long dark hair and was definitely the Queen Bee of the group. To her left was a shorter, blonde haired girl, who looked like the nicest of the group and on the right was a dark brown-haired girl, who looked as though she wanted to be anywhere but here.
"Who wants to know?" I asked.
"I'm Anastasia, but my friends call me Ana. This is Chloe and Morgan," Anastasia introduced.
"Ok..." I said, unsure of why they were talking to me.
"Just thought we should tell you that you're in our space," Anastasia said in a sickly-sweet voice.
"Is that so?" I asked.
"That was my polite way of asking you to move," Anastasia hissed.
"Well I don't see your name on it," I replied.
"What?" She stared at me.
"Sorry if it's an inconvenience to you but I am sort of sitting here and have no intent of leaving," I explained for her.
"But—" She began, but I interrupted her.
"If you really want to sit here so bad, then let me finish eating and then I will move but until then..." I trailed off and gestured with my hand for them to leave.
"Is there a problem here?" A new voice asked.
We all turned to my left and I could see another girl walking over. She had shoulder length, ginger hair that hung loosely around her face. Even from here I could see her large, light-brown eyes that were glaring dangerously at the three girls in front of me. She must have been about 5 foot but I definitely wouldn't have tried to cross her.
"Are you deaf? I asked if there was a problem here," The ginger girl said to the other three.
"No. We were just leaving," Anastasia snarled at her before the three of them left.
"You alright?" The ginger girl asked, walking over to me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you," I replied, giving her a small smile.
"I wasn't gonna say anything. You looked like you had it all under control but I wanted an excuse to talk to you," The girl said, sitting beside me.
"Why would you want to talk to me?" I asked.
"I heard about what happened the other day," She admitted.
"Sounds like you're not the only one who did," I sighed.
"Yes, well. I just wanted to know that you and I are more alike than you realise," She said.
"I seriously doubt that," I replied, thinking back to what set me off.
