Sorry if there's loads of mistakes in this one.'I'm going to edit it when I get home from school but I felt I needed to upload now. With a pile of files placed on their desk from Ed, Jim and Harvey didn't have time to sit around and catch up, reminiscing about how they were finally back to how they were before the Lovecraft incident. But as they flicked through the files, Harvey couldn't help but notice how relaxed Jim seemed to be despite the fact they had less than twenty hours to find the two escapees before they both lost their jobs. Only a man who was insane would be happy about being back here.
Even though Harvey would rather die than admit it to the man, but he had missed having him as a partner here. And through the four months he was gone, Harvey had refused any new detective Essen had suggested, stating he would rather work alone. The Captain wasn't fooled, of course. She knew that it was cause he missed Jim as his partner. Not just Jim, but also little Holly. They were sort of a package deal and Essen ahd a feeling that after spending so much time in places like this, the small girl would grow up into a tough woman.
About an hour had passed before Essen approached their desk, hoping that two of her best detectives had found some information that would save their careers.
"This Buchinsky dude and his partners pulled four successful bank robberies. Killed six along the way before the G.C.P.D. caught him by accident," Harvey told Essen, summarising everything that he and Jim had found out. As soon as Ed had informed them of Gruber's real identity, it had been a lot easier to find the information they needed on the man. "He never names his accomplices.
"He's in prison. He hears Arkham is opening its doors so he uses connections and he gets a new identity as the mental patient Gruber," Jim added.
"He must have some good connections," Essen commented, leaning against the railing.
"Right. When the rest of the nuts get transferred to Arkham, voila," Harvey concluded.
"So he had partners, huh?" Essen asked.
"Yeah. G.C.P.D. never identified them, they're still out there," Harvey told her.
"Yup. We find them, we'll find him," Jim said.
"Easy enough, huh?" Harvey commented, earning a stare from Jim who knew it was going to be far from easy. This man was clever and it was going to take a lot more than luck to get him back in prison, preferably a place away from Arkham and in a cell all by himself.
Just then, one of the other cops who had been making some calls for Jim and Harvey, approached their desk with a piece of paper in his hand.
"Detective," the man announced, getting Harvey's attention.
Taking the paper, Harvey's face split into a grin as he jumped up onto his feet.
"A hit," Harvey smiled.
After grabbing their jackets and Harvey's trusty hat, the two detectives left the precinct to follow up the lead of the stolen Arkham van. Apparently a member of the public had called it in a few minutes ago and the other cop had been researching the credibility of said caller. Jim felt a slight glimmer of hope knowing that the public hadn't quite given up on the G.C.P.D. yet.
For a smart criminal, Jim was surprised that Gruber hadn't made sure the van they hijacked on their escape was burnt and gotten rid of. But no. Instead it was casually parked outside Irwin's Electronics and appeared to be abandoned. There was absolutely no doubt in Jim's mind that this was the right place as the words "Arkham Asylum Prisoner Transport" were printed on the side of the steel grey van.
On their arrival, Jim and Harvey immediately approached a working member of the forensics team who had been in charge of leading the search of the van.
