Interscope and other people in Dre's camp actually tried to convince Dre to fire Eminem shortly after he was hired on. Because he was white no one thought it would work and essentially saw him as a joke. For months the company told Dre to just drop him but he refused. He saw potential and was ready to put his entire career on the line for him.
A good call on Dre's part.
